Search Software Engineering Manager Jobs in WashingtonSoftware Engineering Manager Jobs in Washington: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies sponsor visas for software engineering managers in Washington?
Microsoft and Amazon are the largest sponsors of software engineering manager visas in Washington, with consistent H-1B filings for engineering leadership roles across their Redmond and Seattle campuses. Other active sponsors include Google (Kirkland), Meta (Bellevue), Expedia, Salesforce, and a range of mid-size software companies concentrated in the greater Seattle metro. Smaller funded startups in the region also sponsor, though less consistently than established enterprises.
Which visa types are most common for software engineering manager roles in Washington?
The H-1B is the most common visa for software engineering managers in Washington, as the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. L-1A visas are also used when candidates transfer from an overseas office of the same employer into a managerial capacity. Candidates with extraordinary ability may qualify for an O-1, though that pathway requires documented recognition well above standard industry achievement.
Which cities in Washington have the most software engineering manager sponsorship jobs?
Seattle and Redmond account for the majority of software engineering manager sponsorship activity in Washington. Seattle's South Lake Union and Capitol Hill corridors house Amazon, Salesforce, and numerous growth-stage companies. Redmond is dominated by Microsoft's campus. Bellevue and Kirkland have grown significantly as secondary hubs, with Google, Meta, and several enterprise software firms maintaining engineering offices there. Outside the greater Seattle metro, sponsorship opportunities are limited.
How to find software engineering manager visa sponsorship jobs in Washington?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship, making it a practical starting point for software engineering manager roles in Washington. You can filter by role and state to surface employers with an active history of sponsoring engineering leadership positions in the Seattle metro and surrounding areas. Because sponsorship willingness varies significantly by company size and hiring stage, filtering to verified sponsors saves meaningful time in your search.
Are there any Washington-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for software engineering managers?
Washington has no state income tax, which affects prevailing wage calculations used in H-1B Labor Condition Applications. The Department of Labor sets prevailing wages for software engineering manager roles in the Seattle-Bellevue metro at levels that reflect the region's competitive compensation market. University pipelines from the University of Washington and Washington State University also feed engineering talent into local companies, meaning employers in the region are generally familiar with sponsoring international candidates at the managerial level.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software engineering manager jobs in Washington?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
