The Role
We’re seeking a Principal Project Planner with experience supporting nuclear and large EPC/EPCM projects. In this role, you’ll provide technical leadership for project planning and scheduling across complex, high-value projects. You’ll work closely with engineering, procurement, construction, project controls, and clients to make sure project schedules are realistic, risk-informed, and set up for successful delivery.
This is a senior, hands-on technical role and is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex planning challenges and being a go-to expert for project teams.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the development and management of project schedules covering engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and close-out.
- Guide and mentor project planners and schedulers, helping grow capability across teams.
- Own schedule quality, critical path analysis, progress tracking, and change management.
- Identify schedule risks early and develop recovery plans when projects fall behind.
- Integrate schedules with cost, risk, and resource plans.
- Work directly with clients and project leadership on schedule reviews, reporting, and delivery strategies.
- Coordinate with regulatory, quality, and safety teams to ensure key nuclear milestones are built into the schedule.
- Support planning for long-lead equipment, vendor schedules, modular construction, and site execution.
- Help improve planning tools, systems, and ways of working across Worley.
What You’ll Bring
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience in project planning).
- 10+ years of experience in project planning and scheduling on large capital projects.
- Strong working knowledge of EPC/EPCM project delivery.
- Advanced experience with Primavera P6 and other planning / project controls tools.
- Experience with schedule risk analysis, forecasting, and recovery planning.
- Confident communicator who can work with engineers, construction teams, project managers, and clients.
- Comfortable working in structured, safety-focused environments with strong quality standards.
Preferred
- Experience working on nuclear projects or in highly regulated environments (power, energy, infrastructure, chemicals, etc.).
- Professional certifications (PMP, PMI-SP, AACEI, or similar).

Which consulting companies sponsor H-1B visas in West Virginia?
Large federal contractors and professional services firms with a West Virginia presence are the most consistent H-1B visa sponsors in consulting. Booz Allen Hamilton, Deloitte, Leidos, and ICF have filed H-1B Labor Condition Applications for roles tied to federal and state government contracts in the region. Smaller regional management and IT consulting firms occasionally sponsor as well, though less frequently than national firms.
Which cities in West Virginia have the most consulting H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Charleston is the primary market, as the state capital draws consulting work tied to government agencies, healthcare systems like Charleston Area Medical Center, and energy sector clients. Morgantown is a secondary hub, supported by West Virginia University and affiliated research and technology consulting activity. Huntington sees some consulting demand connected to healthcare and infrastructure projects in the Tri-State region.
What types of consulting roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship in consulting generally applies to specialty occupation roles requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field directly related to the position. Management consultants, IT consultants, data analysts, financial consultants, and strategy professionals with relevant degrees commonly qualify. Generalist or sales-focused consulting roles with no specific degree requirement are less likely to meet the specialty occupation standard USCIS applies.
How do I find consulting H-1B sponsorship jobs in West Virginia?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers who need H-1B sponsorship, including consulting roles in West Virginia. Rather than sorting through thousands of listings where sponsorship is unclear, Migrate Mate surfaces positions from employers with verified H-1B sponsorship history, filtered by state and industry. It is a practical starting point for targeting consulting firms in Charleston, Morgantown, and surrounding areas.
Are there any state-specific considerations for H-1B consulting sponsorship in West Virginia?
West Virginia's consulting market is heavily tied to federal contracting and energy sector work, so many H-1B roles require security clearance eligibility or specialized domain knowledge in areas like natural resources, infrastructure, or public sector operations. The market is smaller than major metro areas, which means fewer open roles at any given time but also less competition for positions that do appear. Prevailing wage compliance still applies regardless of the state's cost of living.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B consulting jobs in West Virginia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
