Which technology companies in Wisconsin sponsor F-1 OPT visas?
Epic Systems in Verona is one of the most active employers of international technology graduates in Wisconsin, regularly hiring software developers and technical implementers on OPT. Other notable sponsors include Exact Sciences, Rockwell Automation, Northwestern Mutual's technology division, and Zendesk's Madison office. University of Wisconsin-affiliated research and tech transfer organizations also hire OPT workers in software and data roles.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most F-1 OPT technology sponsorship jobs?
Madison is Wisconsin's primary technology hiring hub, home to Epic Systems, a large UW-Madison graduate talent pipeline, and a cluster of health tech and enterprise software companies. Milwaukee follows, with corporate technology departments at large financial, manufacturing, and healthcare firms. Verona, as Epic's headquarters location, also generates significant volume on its own for software engineering and implementation roles.
What types of technology roles typically qualify for F-1 OPT sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Roles in software engineering, data analytics, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, and technical project management are among the most common OPT-eligible positions in Wisconsin's technology sector. Health informatics and clinical software roles are particularly prominent given Epic's footprint. Positions must fall within a field directly related to your degree, so a computer science or information systems graduate pursuing a software developer role is a straightforward match.
How do I find technology F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international students searching for F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs, including technology roles in Wisconsin. You can filter by visa type, state, and industry to surface employers actively hiring OPT candidates in software, data, and engineering. This saves significant time compared to manually screening postings that don't address sponsorship eligibility at all.
Are there any Wisconsin-specific considerations for F-1 OPT sponsorship in technology?
Wisconsin's technology sector skews heavily toward enterprise software and health IT rather than consumer startups, which affects sponsorship patterns. Larger, established employers like Epic tend to have structured OPT and H-1B visa processes already in place. STEM OPT extension eligibility is relevant here: graduates in computer science, engineering, or related fields may qualify for a 24-month STEM OPT extension, giving Wisconsin tech employers a longer hiring window before H-1B sponsorship is required.
