Which sports companies sponsor Green Card visas in Wisconsin?
Professional franchises such as the Milwaukee Bucks (NBA), Milwaukee Brewers (MLB), and Green Bay Packers (NFL) are among the most prominent Wisconsin sports employers with the organizational infrastructure to support Green Card sponsorship. Major universities including the University of Wisconsin-Madison also sponsor permanent residency for athletic staff, coaches, and sports medicine professionals in specialized roles that demonstrate sustained need.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most sports Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee accounts for the largest share of sports Green Card sponsorship opportunities in Wisconsin, driven by its three major professional franchises and a growing sports technology sector. Green Bay is the second most active market, primarily through Packers operations and supporting organizations. Madison is notable for university-affiliated sports roles, particularly in athletic training, sports science, and collegiate coaching positions at the University of Wisconsin.
What types of sports roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Roles that require a specific bachelor's degree or higher tend to qualify most reliably, including athletic trainers, physical therapists, sports analysts, strength and conditioning coaches, sports marketing managers, and operations directors. Professional athletes and coaches with nationally or internationally recognized achievement may pursue EB-1A or O-1 classification as a pathway to permanent residency. General support staff roles without degree requirements are less commonly sponsored.
How do I find sports Green Card sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa-sponsored roles and filters listings by visa type, state, and industry. For sports Green Card jobs in Wisconsin specifically, you can filter by Green Card sponsorship and the Sports and Recreation category to surface relevant openings across Milwaukee, Green Bay, and Madison. This removes the guesswork of identifying which employers are open to sponsoring permanent residency.
Are there any Wisconsin-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in the sports industry?
Wisconsin's sports industry is heavily anchored to a small number of major employers, so Green Card sponsorship activity tends to be concentrated rather than widespread. Employers initiating PERM labor certification, which is the most common Green Card pathway, must demonstrate no qualified U.S. workers are available for the role, making specialized positions in sports medicine, analytics, and performance science more viable than general administrative roles. Processing timelines through PERM and subsequent I-140 petitions typically extend two or more years.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sports jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
