Which companies and organizations sponsor visas for program assistants in Wyoming?
The University of Wyoming in Laramie is the most consistent visa sponsor for program assistant roles in the state, particularly for positions supporting research, academic affairs, and student services. Wyoming state government agencies in Cheyenne and healthcare networks such as Wyoming Medical Center have also sponsored international workers for program coordination and administrative support positions, though sponsorship frequency varies by department and funding.
Which visa types are most common for program assistant roles in Wyoming?
The H-1B is the most common work visa for program assistant roles where the position requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field, such as public health, education, or social sciences. J-1 visas cover program assistants in exchange visitor and research contexts, often tied to the University of Wyoming. Some roles at nonprofit or government entities may qualify for cap-exempt H-1B filings, which bypass the annual lottery.
How to find program assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Wyoming?
Migrate Mate filters program assistant jobs specifically to employers who have a history of visa sponsorship, making it more efficient than general job searches. For Wyoming, focus your search on Laramie and Cheyenne, where the University of Wyoming and state agencies post the most relevant openings. Migrate Mate lets you browse by role and state, so you can identify active sponsoring employers without sorting through listings that won't support international applicants.
Which cities in Wyoming have the most program assistant sponsorship jobs?
Laramie leads for program assistant sponsorship opportunities, driven by the University of Wyoming's ongoing need for program coordinators, research assistants, and academic support staff. Cheyenne, as the state capital, offers openings through government agencies and nonprofit organizations. Casper has a smaller but present healthcare and community services sector that occasionally posts program assistant roles open to sponsored candidates.
Are there any state-specific considerations for program assistants seeking sponsorship in Wyoming?
Wyoming's small population means fewer total sponsoring employers compared to larger states, so competition for available program assistant roles with sponsorship can be concentrated around a handful of institutions. The University of Wyoming is the dominant sponsoring employer and has established HR processes for international hires. Roles tied to federally funded research grants or public university programs are more likely to support H-1B sponsorship than private-sector positions in Wyoming's energy or agriculture industries.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored program assistant jobs in Wyoming?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
