Cardiologist Jobs in USA with Visa Sponsorship
Cardiologist positions offer strong visa sponsorship opportunities with H-1B visa, O-1, and EB-2 NIW pathways. Most cardiology roles qualify as specialty occupations requiring MD or equivalent medical degree. Academic medical centers, large hospital systems, and research institutions frequently sponsor international physicians. The physician shortage creates favorable sponsorship conditions for qualified candidates.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Cardiologist Jobs
Highlight subspecialty training and board certifications
Interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, or heart failure subspecialties strengthen O-1 extraordinary ability cases. Board certifications from recognized medical organizations demonstrate specialized expertise that supports visa petitions.
Consider EB-2 NIW for research-focused positions
Cardiologists conducting research or working in underserved areas may qualify for National Interest Waiver green cards. This bypasses employer PERM requirements and offers permanent residency pathway.
Understand ECFMG and medical licensing requirements
Foreign medical graduates need ECFMG certification and state medical licenses. Employers factor these requirements into sponsorship decisions, so complete credentials strengthen your application.
Apply for cap-exempt H-1B positions when available
Non-profit hospitals, universities, and research institutions are exempt from H-1B lottery caps. These positions offer year-round filing opportunities with higher approval certainty than cap-subject petitions.

Find Cardiologist JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Do I need a U.S. medical degree for cardiology visa sponsorship?
No, foreign medical degrees are acceptable if you have ECFMG certification and meet state licensing requirements. Many sponsored cardiologists graduated from international medical schools. However, U.S. residency or fellowship training often strengthens your sponsorship case and employer confidence in hiring international candidates.
How to find Cardiologist jobs with visa sponsorship?
To find Cardiologist positions with visa sponsorship, use Migrate Mate, which specializes in connecting international medical professionals with sponsoring employers. Focus on large hospital systems, academic medical centers, and healthcare networks that commonly sponsor H-1B and O-1 visas for specialized physicians. These institutions often have established immigration support programs for recruiting international cardiology talent.
What visa types work best for cardiologist positions?
H-1B is most common for employed cardiologists, especially at cap-exempt academic medical centers. O-1 works for physicians with extraordinary ability through research, publications, or subspecialty recognition. EB-2 NIW provides a green card path for research-focused cardiologists or those serving underserved populations without employer sponsorship requirements.
How does subspecialty training affect visa approval chances?
Subspecialty training in interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, or heart failure significantly strengthens visa cases. These specializations demonstrate extraordinary ability for O-1 applications and specialty occupation requirements for H-1B. Subspecialists also face less competition and higher employer demand, improving sponsorship likelihood.
Can international cardiologists get sponsored for private practice jobs?
Yes, but it's more challenging than academic positions. Private practices must demonstrate business necessity for international hiring and navigate PERM labor certification for green card sponsorship. Larger cardiology groups and hospital-employed positions offer easier sponsorship paths than small private practices with limited immigration experience.
What approval rates do cardiologist visa applications typically see?
Cardiologist H-1B applications at cap-exempt institutions have approval rates above 85%, as medical positions clearly qualify as specialty occupations. O-1 approval rates vary widely based on evidence quality but succeed when applicants document research contributions, publications, or subspecialty expertise. EB-2 NIW cases depend heavily on demonstrating national interest through research or underserved area service.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Cardiologist jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
