Cargo Handler Jobs in USA with Visa Sponsorship
Cargo handlers coordinate freight movement at airports, seaports, and logistics hubs. Most positions qualify for H-1B visa sponsorship when they require specialized logistics knowledge, though entry-level roles typically don't meet specialty occupation requirements. E-3 visas work for Australians in supervisory or analytical cargo operations roles. For detailed occupation requirements, see the O*NET profile.

Target supervisory and analytical roles
Cargo supervisor, logistics coordinator, and freight analyst positions are more likely to qualify for H-1B sponsorship than basic cargo handling roles that don't require specialized knowledge.
Emphasize systems and technology experience
Experience with warehouse management systems, cargo tracking software, or customs documentation systems strengthens your case for requiring specialized skills beyond basic manual labor.
Focus on airport and seaport employers
Major airports and container ports have more complex operations requiring specialized knowledge. These employers are more familiar with visa sponsorship processes than smaller logistics companies.
Highlight logistics or supply chain education
A degree in logistics, supply chain management, or business administration directly supports the specialty occupation requirement for cargo coordination and management roles in sponsorship applications.
Consider starting with OPT or CPT
F-1 students can gain cargo handling experience through Optional Practical Training, building the specialized knowledge needed to qualify for H-1B sponsorship in supervisory roles later.
Apply to freight forwarding companies
International freight forwarders often need workers who understand complex shipping regulations and customs procedures, making these roles more likely to qualify for visa sponsorship.

Find Cargo Handler JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Do cargo handler positions qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Entry-level cargo handling typically doesn't qualify for H-1B because it's considered manual labor that doesn't require specialized knowledge. However, cargo coordinator, logistics analyst, or supervisory roles that require understanding of shipping regulations, customs procedures, or warehouse management systems can qualify for H-1B sponsorship.
What degree do I need for visa-sponsored cargo handling jobs?
A bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or industrial engineering supports H-1B applications for cargo coordination roles. The degree must relate to the specialized aspects of the position, such as logistics planning or freight documentation, rather than just physical cargo handling.
Which employers sponsor cargo handlers for work visas?
Major airlines, international freight forwarders like DHL and FedEx, container shipping companies, and airport cargo operators are most likely to sponsor visas. These employers handle complex international shipments requiring specialized knowledge of customs regulations and logistics systems that support specialty occupation requirements.
Can I get an E-3 visa for cargo handling work?
Australians can get E-3 visas for cargo coordinator, logistics analyst, or freight operations supervisor roles that require specialized knowledge. Basic cargo handling positions typically don't meet E-3 specialty occupation requirements, but supervisory roles involving customs compliance, shipping documentation, or logistics planning often qualify.
How to find Cargo Handler jobs with visa sponsorship?
To find Cargo Handler jobs with visa sponsorship, use Migrate Mate, which specializes in connecting international candidates with sponsoring employers. Focus your search on logistics companies, airlines, freight forwarders, and warehouse operations that commonly hire cargo handlers. These employers often sponsor H-2B, TN, or skilled worker visas depending on your location and qualifications.
What are the approval rates for cargo handler H-1B applications?
USCIS doesn't publish occupation-specific approval rates, but logistics coordinator and cargo supervisor roles have better approval chances than basic handling positions. Success depends on demonstrating that the role requires specialized knowledge of shipping regulations, customs procedures, or complex logistics systems beyond manual labor.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Cargo Handler jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
