How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Gtm Strategy Lead
Confirm the role is framed as a specialty occupation
GTM Strategy Lead positions must require a specific degree field, not just any bachelor's degree, to qualify for H-1B sponsorship. Roles framed as general management are harder to sponsor. Look for postings that specify business strategy, marketing, or economics degrees.
Target employers with an active H-1B filing history
Companies that have sponsored similar roles before are far more likely to do it again. Search Migrate Mate to filter for employers with verified sponsorship histories in GTM, marketing strategy, or revenue operations functions specifically.
Understand the LCA wage level implications for this role
GTM Strategy Leads typically fall at wage Level III or IV, reflecting senior responsibilities. Your employer must certify the offered wage meets the prevailing wage for your metro area, which directly affects how the LCA is structured and filed.
Prepare documentation that ties your degree to GTM work
USCIS may scrutinize whether your degree field directly relates to go-to-market strategy. A degree in business, economics, or marketing is the strongest foundation. If your degree is adjacent, gather portfolio evidence showing applied strategic work in that discipline.
Ask about cap-exempt sponsorship if the employer qualifies
Nonprofits, universities, and certain research institutions are exempt from the H-1B lottery. If a GTM Strategy Lead role exists at a qualifying organization, your petition can be filed any time without waiting for the April registration window.
Consider the O-1A if your GTM track record is exceptional
Senior GTM leaders with documented revenue impact, industry speaking engagements, published thought leadership, or named awards may qualify for the O-1A visa. This bypasses the lottery entirely and is worth exploring if your career has standout achievements.

Get Access To All JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Can a GTM Strategy Lead role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, but the job description has to hold up to scrutiny. USCIS requires that the role normally requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field, not just any degree. GTM Strategy Lead positions that require business strategy, marketing, or economics degrees generally qualify. Roles written to accept any degree field, or that include broad management duties without a defined discipline, face higher denial risk.
What visa options exist for a GTM Strategy Lead beyond the H-1B?
The O-1A is the most viable alternative for senior candidates with a strong track record, covering documented revenue results, industry recognition, or published strategic work. Australians can pursue the E-3 visa, which has no lottery. Canadians and Mexicans may qualify under TN in the management consultant category, though TN classification for GTM roles requires careful framing. Migrate Mate lists sponsoring employers for all of these categories.
Does my degree field matter for H-1B sponsorship in this role?
It matters significantly. A degree in business administration, marketing, economics, or a closely related field provides the clearest path. Degrees in unrelated fields, such as engineering or the humanities, can still work if you can demonstrate that your coursework or subsequent education is directly applicable to go-to-market strategy. USCIS evaluates the nexus between your degree and the specific duties of the role, so documentation of that connection matters.
What are the H-1B approval rates for GTM and marketing strategy roles?
USCIS does not publish approval rates broken down by specific job title, but business and marketing specialty occupation petitions have historically seen approval rates in the high seventies to mid-eighties percentage range in recent fiscal years. Denial rates rise when the job description is vague about degree requirements or when the employer has a pattern of RFEs in the category. Working with an experienced immigration attorney on the petition significantly reduces denial risk for roles like this.
How do I find GTM Strategy Lead roles where the employer will sponsor a visa?
Most job postings do not explicitly advertise sponsorship willingness, which makes it hard to filter on general platforms. Migrate Mate is built specifically to surface roles where employers have a verified history of visa sponsorship, so you can focus applications on companies that are actually open to sponsoring. Filtering by role type and sponsorship status saves significant time compared to applying broadly and asking about sponsorship late in the process.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Gtm Strategy Lead jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
