This role is ideal for a project manager who thrives in execution — owning delivery, managing risk, and building strong client relationships while developing deeper technical and strategic expertise.
What You’ll Do
- Lead Client Implementations: Follow established delivery frameworks to deliver project plans and business requirement documents, gather requirements, and lead clients to successful launches within budget, scope and timeframe.
- Enablement: Ensure agencies and merchants have the tools, resources, and guidance needed to succeed. Share best practices and recommendations with external stakeholders to help them meet project goals and timelines.

- Advocate for Clients: Overcome client obstacles by facilitating communication and advocacy with internal stakeholders.
- Project Management: Manage daily activities of scope management, project and resource planning, progress tracking, proactive risk and issue management, and cross-functional/stakeholder and leadership communication. Track and report on project progress, ensuring alignment with expectations and addressing escalations as needed. Identify and escalate risk appropriately.
- Manage Accounts: Handle mid-market implementations with defined scope and complexity.
- Technical Evaluations: Can read and interpret API documentation, understand e-commerce integrations well enough to ask the right questions and flag risks during client discovery.
Who You Are
- Education & Certification: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business, project management, or related field (or equivalent experience). PMP, CAPM, PRINCE2, or similar certification preferred.
- Technical Project Leadership Experience: 3–5 years of experience managing technical implementations or software delivery projects, ideally within SaaS, e-commerce, or technology organizations.
- Commerce & Integration Expertise: Proven experience leading digital commerce initiatives involving platform migrations, API integrations, and customized architectures.
- Familiarity with ERP, OMS, PIM, CMS, and related commerce systems.
- Technical Acumen: Working knowledge of REST or GraphQL APIs, webhooks, and integration patterns.
- Understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or object-oriented programming is a plus.
- Enterprise Stakeholder Management: Experience managing mid-market or enterprise clients, including executive-level communication, stakeholder alignment, and issue resolution.
- Project Management Excellence: Strong command of scope control, timeline management, resource coordination, and risk mitigation. Proficiency with tools such as Jira, Salesforce, MS Project, Smartsheet, Wrike, Lucidchart, or similar.
- Methodology & Delivery Frameworks: Understanding of Agile and Waterfall methodologies within SaaS implementation environments.
- Ecommerce Ecosystem Knowledge: Familiarity with leading commerce platforms (e.g., BigCommerce, Shopify, Magento) and commonly integrated applications.
- Communication & Adaptability: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Able to navigate ambiguity, manage competing priorities, and collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Language: Fluency in written and spoken English required.

Frame your degree as a specialty occupation match
USCIS requires a specific bachelor's degree field for H-1B approval. A degree in information systems, computer science, or business administration maps cleanly to implementation work. Highlight this alignment explicitly in your resume and any employer-facing materials.
Target SaaS and enterprise software companies first
Companies like Salesforce, Workday, and Oracle regularly sponsor Implementation Project Managers because the role is deeply technical and hard to fill domestically. These employers have established H-1B sponsorship processes and dedicated immigration counsel already in place.
Get PMP or CAPM certified before applying
Certifications like PMP or CAPM reinforce that the role requires specialized knowledge, which strengthens the specialty occupation argument for H-1B approval. They also make your profile more competitive against candidates who don't need sponsorship.
Clarify sponsorship timing early in the process
Ask about sponsorship at the offer stage, not during initial interviews. Many employers will sponsor but haven't been asked directly. Bringing it up too early can screen you out before they've assessed your value to the team.
Australian citizens should ask about the E-3 specifically
The E-3 visa is available exclusively to Australians and has no lottery. For Implementation Project Managers, it's often faster and less expensive to process than the H-1B. Employers who've never sponsored an E-3 can still do so with minimal added complexity.
Document client-facing and cross-functional scope clearly
Generic project management roles face more H-1B scrutiny than technical ones. Emphasizing system integration, software configuration, and technical client onboarding in your job description strengthens the specialty occupation case your employer's immigration attorney will need to make.

Find Implementation Project Manager JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Do Implementation Project Manager roles qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Yes, but the approval depends on how the role is defined. USCIS requires that the position normally requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Roles focused on software implementation, system integration, or technical onboarding in enterprise environments have a stronger specialty occupation argument than generalist project management positions. Employers in SaaS and healthcare IT tend to have the most success.
What degree do I need for an Implementation Project Manager visa sponsorship?
A bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, business administration, or a related field is typically required. The key is that the degree field aligns with the technical nature of the role. If your degree is in an unrelated area, relevant work experience may help, but the specialty occupation argument becomes harder to sustain. Your employer's immigration attorney will assess the specific combination.
Which industries sponsor Implementation Project Managers most reliably?
SaaS companies, enterprise software vendors, healthcare IT firms, and management consulting companies sponsor this role most consistently. Companies deploying complex platforms, such as ERP, CRM, or electronic health record systems, need technically fluent project managers and can't always find them domestically. These industries also tend to have in-house immigration support or established relationships with immigration law firms.
How do I find Implementation Project Manager jobs that offer visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles that offer visa sponsorship, so you're not wasting time on applications that will go nowhere. Standard job searches don't surface sponsorship willingness reliably. Browsing Migrate Mate lets you focus your effort on employers who are already open to sponsoring international candidates for this role.
Can I switch employers on an H-1B as an Implementation Project Manager?
Yes. Under H-1B portability, you can start working for a new employer as soon as they file a new H-1B petition on your behalf, provided your previous H-1B was approved and you haven't fallen out of status. The new employer must file before your current authorization expires. The role and degree requirements still apply to the new petition, so the specialty occupation case needs to hold up for the new position as well.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Implementation Project Manager jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
