Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as an IT Product Manager
Lead with product outcomes, not process
Sponsoring employers want evidence you drive measurable results. Frame your experience around shipped features, revenue impact, and user growth rather than process management. This directly supports the specialty occupation case USCIS requires for H-1B approval.
Target companies with H-1B filing history
Not every employer sponsors, but many tech companies file H-1B petitions regularly for product roles. Focusing your search on companies with a documented sponsorship track record significantly improves your odds of receiving an offer that includes visa support.
Clarify your technical depth early
IT Product Managers with software engineering, data, or systems backgrounds are stronger sponsorship candidates. Employers find it easier to satisfy the specialty occupation requirement when your degree and experience align directly with the technical product domain you'll own.
Understand the E-3 advantage if you're Australian
Australian citizens can apply for an E-3 visa without entering any lottery. It requires a qualifying bachelor's degree and a job offer, but there's no annual cap risk. This makes the U.S. job search significantly more predictable than H-1B for eligible candidates.
Prepare your degree equivalency documentation
If you completed a three-year Australian bachelor's degree, have it evaluated for U.S. equivalency before interviewing. USCIS and consular officers expect evidence your degree meets U.S. bachelor's-level standards, and having this ready removes a common sponsorship friction point.
Browse Migrate Mate for sponsorship-ready roles
Most general job boards don't filter by visa sponsorship willingness. Migrate Mate lists IT Product Manager roles from employers who are open to sponsoring international candidates, saving you the frustration of applying to positions that won't move forward.

Find IT Product Manager JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does IT Product Manager qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, IT Product Manager generally qualifies, but the application requires careful framing. USCIS looks for evidence that a specific bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as computer science, engineering, or information systems, is a standard requirement for the role. Generic product management positions that accept any degree have faced more scrutiny, so the job description and employer's hiring history matter significantly.
What degree do I need to get sponsored as an IT Product Manager?
Most employers require a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or a closely related technical field. An MBA alone is rarely sufficient for an IT-focused product role when it comes to visa sponsorship. If your degree is in a different field, relevant technical experience and certifications can strengthen your case, though the primary degree field carries the most weight with USCIS and consular officers.
How common is visa sponsorship for IT Product Manager roles?
Sponsorship is relatively common in the tech sector for this role. Department of Labor disclosure data consistently shows IT Product Manager and related titles among the top sponsored positions at major technology companies. Sponsorship is less common at smaller companies without established immigration programs, so employer size and sector matter when evaluating your options.
Can I get an E-3 visa as an IT Product Manager if I'm Australian?
Yes. IT Product Management qualifies as a specialty occupation under the E-3 category, provided you hold a qualifying bachelor's degree in a relevant field and have a U.S. job offer. The E-3 has no lottery and a 10,500 annual allocation that has never been exhausted, which makes it a more reliable path than the H-1B for Australian citizens. You can browse E-3-eligible IT Product Manager roles directly on Migrate Mate.
Will a non-technical background hurt my sponsorship chances as an IT Product Manager?
It can create complications. The specialty occupation requirement for H-1B and E-3 visas is easier to satisfy when your degree field and the IT product domain are clearly connected. Candidates with business or liberal arts degrees working on technical products sometimes face requests for additional evidence. Highlighting technical skills, certifications, and product domains that require specialized knowledge helps, but a technical degree remains the strongest foundation.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored IT Product Manager jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
