How to Get Visa Sponsorship as a Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager
Target large enterprises and Fortune 500 manufacturers
Companies like Boeing, Intel, and Procter & Gamble regularly sponsor H-1B visas for strategic sourcing roles. Larger procurement teams have established immigration infrastructure, making sponsorship approval faster and less dependent on individual hiring manager discretion.
Align your degree field to the role's specialty occupation requirement
USCIS requires a degree in supply chain management, business, engineering, or a closely related field. A mismatch, such as a general liberal arts degree, can complicate H-1B approval. Highlight relevant coursework or professional certifications like CPSM to strengthen your petition.
Emphasize quantifiable cost savings in your application materials
Employers sponsor candidates who demonstrate clear ROI. Framing your experience around documented savings, supplier consolidations, or contract negotiations signals the specialized value that justifies an employer's investment in sponsorship and immigration legal costs.
Canadian and Mexican candidates should explore the TN visa route
TN visa eligibility covers management consultants, which some sourcing roles qualify under. Unlike H-1B, there's no lottery and no annual cap. Processing is faster, often approved at the border or port of entry, making it a practical near-term option.
Address sponsorship willingness early in the hiring process
Raise visa sponsorship in the second or third conversation, after demonstrating fit. Framing it as a straightforward process for an established employer reduces hesitation. Companies already filing LCAs for other roles are far more likely to sponsor without significant delay.
Certifications strengthen your specialty occupation case
Credentials like CPSM, CIPS, or a Six Sigma certification reinforce that your role requires specialized knowledge beyond a generalist degree. USCIS adjudicators respond well to evidence that the position demands ongoing professional expertise, improving petition approval odds.

Get Access To All JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Do Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager roles qualify as H-1B specialty occupations?
Yes, in most cases. USCIS typically approves Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager positions as specialty occupations when the role requires a bachelor's degree or higher in supply chain management, business, engineering, or a related field. Roles emphasizing category strategy, supplier negotiation, and cross-functional leadership have a strong track record of approval, particularly at large employers with documented degree requirements in their job postings.
Which visa types are most commonly sponsored for this role?
H-1B is the most common visa for Senior Strategic Sourcing Managers already in the U.S. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals if the role qualifies under management consultant or engineer categories. Australians may be eligible for the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and processes faster. L-1 transfers are an option for candidates already employed at a multinational with U.S. operations.
What degree does my employer need to prove to USCIS for H-1B approval?
Your employer must demonstrate that the Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager position normally requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field, not just any degree. Supply chain management, operations management, industrial engineering, or business with a sourcing focus all work well. If the job posting states 'degree preferred' rather than 'required,' that weakens the specialty occupation argument and can trigger a Request for Evidence.
How can I find Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager jobs that offer visa sponsorship?
Browse Migrate Mate to find Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager openings filtered specifically for visa sponsorship. Employers listed there have a demonstrated history of sponsoring international candidates, which eliminates the guesswork of approaching companies that don't sponsor. Focusing on roles at large manufacturers, technology companies, and management consulting firms will give you the highest concentration of sponsoring employers in this category.
Can I switch employers after my H-1B is approved for this role?
Yes. Once you have an approved H-1B petition, you can change employers under H-1B portability rules. Your new employer must file an H-1B transfer petition before your current employment ends, and you can begin working for the new employer as soon as USCIS receives the petition, without waiting for final approval. The new role must still qualify as a specialty occupation, which is straightforward for another sourcing or procurement management position.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
