Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Strategic Sourcing Manager
Target companies with established procurement functions
Large manufacturers, Fortune 500 retailers, and healthcare systems run structured sourcing departments and have existing visa sponsorship infrastructure. These employers file H-1B petitions routinely and are far less likely to reject candidates over sponsorship complexity.
Lead with cost savings and supplier metrics in your resume
Sponsoring employers want proof that you deliver measurable value. Quantify savings achieved, supplier consolidation efforts, and contract outcomes. Concrete numbers reduce perceived hiring risk and make the sponsorship conversation easier to justify internally.
Clarify your specialty occupation eligibility early
Strategic Sourcing Manager qualifies as a specialty occupation when a bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, or engineering is specifically required. Roles where any degree suffices may face USCIS scrutiny, so confirm the job description reflects a specific degree requirement.
Emphasize category expertise, not just process knowledge
Employers sponsor candidates who own specific commodity categories, such as direct materials, IT procurement, or logistics. Deep category expertise signals you cannot easily be replaced by a non-specialist hire, which strengthens both your candidacy and the specialty occupation case.
Identify employers already sponsoring sourcing roles
OFLC disclosure data shows which companies have filed Labor Condition Applications for Strategic Sourcing Manager positions. Prioritizing employers with a documented H-1B filing history for this role significantly improves your odds of a sponsorship conversation moving forward.
Use Migrate Mate to filter for sponsoring employers
Not every job posting discloses sponsorship willingness upfront. Migrate Mate filters listings specifically for employers open to visa sponsorship, saving you from applying to roles where sponsorship is a non-starter before you even reach the interview stage.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Strategic Sourcing Manager qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
It qualifies when the employer specifically requires a bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration, engineering, or a related field. USCIS has scrutinized broad management titles in the past, so the job description must clearly link the role to a specific body of theoretical knowledge rather than accepting any degree field.
What visa types can sponsor a Strategic Sourcing Manager?
H-1B visa is the most common path for employer-sponsored sourcing roles. L-1A or L-1B transfers are an option if you're moving from a foreign affiliate of a U.S. company. O-1A is a viable alternative for candidates with exceptional recognition, such as major procurement awards, published industry contributions, or leadership in professional organizations.
How do I find Strategic Sourcing Manager jobs that offer visa sponsorship?
Most standard job postings don't explicitly state sponsorship availability, which makes filtering difficult. Migrate Mate is built specifically for this, surfacing Strategic Sourcing Manager roles from employers with a documented history of sponsoring work visas so you can focus your effort on opportunities that are actually accessible.
Does a three-year bachelor's degree from Australia or India qualify for H-1B sponsorship in this role?
A three-year degree can qualify if it's in a directly related field and USCIS accepts it as equivalent to a U.S. four-year bachelor's degree. Equivalency is evaluated case by case. A credentials evaluation from a recognized agency strengthens the petition, and some employers require this documentation before initiating the H-1B filing process.
Are H-1B approvals common for sourcing and procurement roles?
Approvals are generally consistent for Strategic Sourcing Manager roles at companies with strong compliance practices and well-documented job descriptions. Denial risk increases when the role description is vague, the degree requirement is broad, or the employer lacks prior H-1B filing experience. Working with an experienced immigration attorney and choosing a sponsor with a track record in this category both reduce that risk.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Strategic Sourcing Manager jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
