Application Development Manager Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a application development manager in Florida?
Most application development managers in Florida move into the role after building several years of hands-on software development experience and then stepping into a team lead or senior developer position. Florida employers typically expect a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or information systems, and many hiring managers view certifications such as PMP or a Certified Scrum Master credential as a meaningful differentiator. There is no Florida state license required for this role.
How much do application development managers make in Florida?
Application development managers in Florida earn a median of about $168,470 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $100,390 for the lowest 10% to over $264,460 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire application development managers in Florida?
Employers hiring application development managers in Florida right now include Citi, Ryder System, and Information Technology Senior Management Forum, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Florida's concentration of defense contractors, regional banks, and large healthcare systems means demand is spread across multiple industries rather than limited to a single sector.
Which Florida cities have the most application development manager jobs?
Tampa, Tallahassee, and Coral Gables have the most application development manager openings in Florida, reflecting the concentration of corporate headquarters, large hospital systems, and defense technology contractors in those metros. Smaller markets like Jacksonville and Fort Lauderdale also carry meaningful volume thanks to anchoring financial services firms and regional IT hubs that draw senior technology leadership talent from across the state.
Are there remote application development manager jobs in Florida?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 57% of application development manager openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, which reflects how well the planning, oversight, and stakeholder coordination aspects of the role translate to distributed work. Strategic functions such as roadmap planning and vendor management are especially common in fully remote arrangements, while roles requiring regular hands-on team coaching tend to be hybrid.
How can I get hired as a application development manager in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving from a senior developer or technical lead role into a junior management or team lead position within the same organization. Florida employers such as AdventHealth, Citigroup, and Lockheed Martin regularly promote from within and run internal leadership development programs for high-performing individual contributors. Building a portfolio that demonstrates project ownership, mentoring colleagues, and driving delivery outcomes matters more than formal management titles when first making the transition.
Where can I find and apply to application development manager jobs in Florida?
