Architect Jobs in Connecticut: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a architect in Connecticut?
To become a licensed architect in Connecticut, you must earn an accredited professional degree in architecture, complete the required hours under the Architectural Experience Program, and pass all divisions of the Architect Registration Examination. You then apply for licensure through the Connecticut State Department of Consumer Protection, which oversees architect registration. Architects licensed in other states may pursue reciprocity through the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.
How much do architects make in Connecticut?
Architects in Connecticut earn a median of about $103,540 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $75,440 for the lowest 10% to over $152,020 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire architects in Connecticut?
Connecticut architect roles are posted by CVS Health, Infosys, and LTM Limited and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Healthcare systems, universities, and mid-size regional design firms are among the most consistent sources of full-time architect positions across the state.
Which Connecticut cities have the most architect jobs?
Hartford, Connecticut, and Stamford have the most architect openings in Connecticut. Hartford and New Haven drive volume through large institutional clients including state government agencies, healthcare systems, and universities, while Stamford's concentration of corporate headquarters and ongoing transit-oriented development projects supports consistent demand from commercial and mixed-use firms.
Are there remote architect jobs in Connecticut?
Yes, but they're rare. Architecture is a largely site- and collaboration-dependent field, so fully remote roles are limited. About 62% of architect openings tied to Connecticut are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those tend to be roles focused on schematic design, specification writing, or project management rather than construction administration.
How can I get hired as a architect in Connecticut with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing an intern architect or architectural designer role while completing your Architectural Experience Program hours. Connecticut's healthcare and university sectors regularly bring on recent graduates, and firms like Centerbrook Architects and KSS Architects have hired entry-level designers for project support and drafting roles. A strong portfolio of studio work, a B.Arch or M.Arch from an accredited program, and progress toward your ARE give candidates the clearest edge with Connecticut employers.
Where can I find and apply to architect jobs in Connecticut?
You can find and apply to architect jobs in Connecticut on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers across the state. Search the available roles, find the ones that fit your experience and specialization, and apply directly to the positions that match.
