Assistant Teacher Jobs in North Dakota: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a assistant teacher in North Dakota?
To work as an assistant teacher in North Dakota public schools, you must hold a paraprofessional license issued by the North Dakota Education Standards and Practices Board. Candidates typically need an associate degree or a minimum of two years of postsecondary coursework, along with a passing score on an approved paraprofessional assessment. Private and early childhood settings may have different requirements, but the ESPB license is the standard credential for K-12 district employment.
Which companies hire assistant teachers in North Dakota?
North Dakota assistant teacher roles are posted by West Fargo Public Schools, Fargo Public Schools, and Little Miracles and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Large public school districts across the state are the most consistent employers, with particularly active hiring in urban districts serving growing student populations.
Which North Dakota cities have the most assistant teacher jobs?
Fargo, West Fargo, and Grand Forks have the most assistant teacher openings in North Dakota. Fargo leads as the state's largest city, anchored by Fargo Public Schools and proximity to higher education institutions that generate ongoing paraprofessional demand, while Bismarck and Grand Forks reflect strong hiring from their respective large public school districts and regional early childhood programs.
Are there remote assistant teacher jobs in North Dakota?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of assistant teacher openings tied to North Dakota are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the hands-on nature of classroom and student support work. The small subset of remote roles tends to involve virtual school programs or administrative support functions rather than direct in-person student instruction.
How can I get hired as a assistant teacher in North Dakota with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying as a classroom aide or educational support associate at a North Dakota public school district while working toward your paraprofessional license through the Education Standards and Practices Board. Fargo Public Schools and Bismarck Public Schools regularly post entry-level paraprofessional openings that do not require prior classroom experience. Childcare centers and Head Start programs in North Dakota also hire assistants with limited backgrounds. Completing a community college early childhood education course and obtaining a paraprofessional assessment score gives candidates a clear advantage in competitive districts.
Where can I find and apply to assistant teacher jobs in North Dakota?
You can find and apply to assistant teacher jobs in North Dakota on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the available roles, find the ones that fit your background and location, and apply directly to each listing.
