Duties:

-Assist teachers in planning curriculum and classroom experiences for young children
-Communicate with the classroom teacher, following his/her guidance throughout the day
-Communicate and collaborate with the teacher any specific concerns or problems
-Take care of the classroom by refilling supplies and assuming an equal share of housekeeping duties
-Act as classroom teacher in the lead teacher's absence
-Treat each child with love, dignity, and respect: actively engage with children during routines, meals/snacks, and play; maintain calm, respectful tone of voice when communicating with others; follow guidance policy
-Perform other duties as assigned
-Adhere to policies documented in the human resources guidelines

Qualifications:

- Previous experience working with preschool and/or toddler-aged students is preferred
- Knowledge of early childhood development principles and practices is a plus
- Familiarity with curriculum for young children, specifically play-based experiences
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to effectively manage a classroom and engage students in learning experiences
- Understanding of child welfare and safety regulations
- Complies with all licensing requirements
-Meets the physical requirements of the job: ability to lift 30-40 pounds; ability to push up to 150 pounds; ability to get down to the eye level of a child
