Open Rank Tenure Track Faculty Position in Sport and Recreation Management
The Department of Counseling, Recreation and School Psychology (CRSP) in the College of Arts, Sciences & Education at Florida International University invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-earning open rank faculty position in Sport and Recreation Management, anticipated to begin in Fall 2027.
Responsibilities
' Develop and sustain a productive research agenda in sport and recreation management or a closely related field, including dissemination through peer-reviewed scholarship and pursuit of external funding, as appropriate.
' Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Sport and Recreation Management in face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online formats, consistent with program and departmental needs.
' Mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate students, including support for academic progression, career development, research participation, and professional preparation.
' Contribute to curriculum development, assessment of student learning, program planning, and continuous improvement.
' Engage in service to the department, college, university, profession, and community consistent with the expectations for a tenure-earning faculty appointment.
' Establish and strengthen partnerships with sport, recreation, wellness, community, municipal, nonprofit, and industry organizations that enhance research, experiential learning, and student career opportunities.
' Collaborate across FIU in areas relevant to health, technology and innovation, community wellbeing, sport, recreation, events, analytics, or related interdisciplinary priorities.
Minimum Qualifications
' An earned doctorate in Sport Management, Recreation Management, Leisure Studies, Kinesiology, Sport Business, Public Health, Event Management, or a closely related discipline by the time of appointment.
' Evidence of, or clear potential for, a focused and productive research agenda in sport and recreation management or a related area.
' Evidence of, or potential for, effective university-level teaching.
' Demonstrated ability or potential to work effectively with students, colleagues, and community partners from a wide range of backgrounds.
' Excellent written, oral, interpersonal, and organizational communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
' Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate one or more of the following:

About the Program
The Sport and Recreation Management Program is a vibrant and growing program with a healthy number of applicants and strong enrollment. It is situated within the Department of Counseling, Recreation, and School Psychology in the School of Education and Human Development at the College of Arts, Sciences, & Education (CASE). SRM undergraduate enrollment increased from 280 students in 2023'24 to 311 students in 2024'25 and 337 students in 2025'26, a 20.4% increase over two years. The program seeks a tenure-earning faculty member who will help translate this growth into enduring academic quality, student success, research productivity, and regional engagement.
