Faculty Position Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a faculty position in Florida?
Most Florida colleges and universities require a terminal degree in your discipline, typically a doctorate for four-year institutions or a master's degree for community colleges. Florida community colleges and state colleges fall under the Florida College System, and positions at K-12 schools or dual-enrollment programs may also require certification through the Florida Department of Education. Practical professional experience in your field strengthens applications, especially for career and technical or healthcare education roles.
Which companies hire faculty positions in Florida?
Companies currently hiring faculty positions in Florida include Broward College, Florida International University, and Mayo Clinic, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Florida's large public university systems, independent colleges, and health system-affiliated schools of nursing and medicine are among the most consistent sources of open faculty roles in the state.
Which Florida cities have the most faculty position jobs?
Miami, Pembroke Pines, and Davie have the most faculty position openings in Florida. Miami's concentration of private universities, medical schools, and a large bilingual student population drives demand there, while Tampa and Orlando support robust faculty hiring through major state universities, health science programs, and one of the fastest-growing community college systems in the country.
Are there remote faculty position jobs in Florida?
Yes, but they depend heavily on the discipline. About 0% of faculty position openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting growth in online program delivery at Florida institutions. Courses in business, general education, and technology are the most likely to be taught fully online, while lab-based, clinical, and studio courses almost always require an on-campus presence.
How can I get hired as a faculty position in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is adjunct or part-time instruction, which Florida State College at Jacksonville, Miami Dade College, and Valencia College use heavily to build their instructor pipelines. Candidates transitioning from industry roles in nursing, technology, or business can often step into adjunct positions while completing a master's degree. Building an online course portfolio and obtaining a Florida Department of Education credential in career and technical education gives early-career applicants a measurable edge with state colleges.
Where can I find and apply to faculty position jobs in Florida?
