The Electrical Automation Engineer will provide support to engineering projects for expansions and improvements across a wide variety of areas to plan, design, and execute electrical systems, ensuring strict compliance and safety adherence. There will be involvement with plant personnel and suppliers to design system specifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Plan, design plan, design, and execute electrical systems, ensuring strict compliance and safety adherence with NEC standards.
- Specify motors and drives, and design electrical panels to meet safety and industry-specific regulations.
- Size transformers, circuit breakers, and Motor Control Centers (MCCs) based on project specifications and requirements.
- Specialize in optimizing power systems for enhanced efficiency and reliability, including minimizing energy wastage. Manage and optimize electrical substations for efficient power distribution.
- Assess electrical components to optimize system performance.
- Create, evaluate, and compare specifications and quotations from suppliers.
- Manage procurement process to ensure timely availability of materials. Prepare Bill of Materials (BOMs) and related documentation. Be directly involved in price negotiation, process approval, payment submission, and tracking.
- Use project management skills to manage project from initiation phase through completion which includes proposal review, project scheduling and execution, supplier follow ups, and logistics activities.
- Collaborate effectively with external contractors to ensure project objectives are met.
- Coordinate with vendors, HQ personnel, plant personnel to ensure the quality, logistics, and start-up of equipment is satisfactory for the continuous success of plant operations and improvements.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no immediate supervisory responsibilities. May provide leadership for designated projects.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field AND minimum of 5 years of related experience OR equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Knowledge of regulations and standards of the National Electrical Association (NEC), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
COMPUTER SKILLS
Advanced proficiency design tools and software including AutoCAD and MEP. Possess intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Project). Experience with SolidWorks CAD software is a plus for conceptual validation.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret design drawings. Able to write technical reports, identify trends and develop action plans to address issues.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to identify trends and develop action plans to address issues.
