How do you become a billing clerk in Kansas?
Most billing clerk positions in Kansas require a high school diploma plus some post-secondary coursework in accounting, business, or health information technology. Kansas does not issue a state license for billing clerks, but employers in healthcare settings typically expect a Certified Professional Biller credential through the American Academy of Professional Coders or equivalent training. Community colleges such as Wichita State University Tech offer relevant certificate programs that Kansas employers recognize.
Which companies hire billing clerks in Kansas?
Companies currently hiring billing clerks in Kansas include Garver, ONE Gas, and T-Mobile, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Kansas's concentration of regional hospital systems, aerospace manufacturers, and state agencies creates steady demand for billing clerks across both healthcare and corporate settings.
Which Kansas cities have the most billing clerk jobs?
Wichita, Overland Park, and Lenexa have the most billing clerk openings in Kansas. Wichita leads because of its large healthcare networks and aerospace manufacturers that require dedicated billing departments, while Kansas City's cross-border corporate and medical campuses and Topeka's concentration of state government offices and insurance carriers support strong demand in those markets as well.
Are there remote billing clerk jobs in Kansas?
Yes, and more than most fields, since billing work is largely desk-based and document-driven. About 67% of billing clerk openings tied to Kansas are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how well the role adapts to off-site work. Insurance claims processing and accounts receivable functions are the sub-areas most commonly offered as fully remote positions by Kansas employers.
How can I get hired as a billing clerk in Kansas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a billing or collections assistant role at one of Kansas's large healthcare systems, where on-the-job training is common. Stormont Vail Health and Ascension Via Christi in Wichita regularly post entry-level billing support positions that require no prior billing experience.
