Entry Level Building Automation Systems Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level building automation systems job?
Focus on building hands-on familiarity with HVAC controls, programmable logic controllers, and building management software through coursework, internships, or personal projects. Employers at this level typically look for candidates who understand control system fundamentals, can read schematics, and have exposure to platforms like BACnet or Modbus. A relevant technical degree, vocational certificate, or demonstrated project work gives candidates a clear edge over a blank resume.
Which companies hire entry level building automation systems?
Companies hiring entry level building automation systems right now include Jobot, RoviSys Building Technologies, and Honeywell, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a broad mix of building controls contractors, facilities management firms, and commercial HVAC service providers that regularly bring on junior technicians and systems integrators to grow their field teams.
Are there remote entry level building automation systems jobs?
Yes, though most roles in this field are on-site given the hands-on nature of controls installation and commissioning. About 0% of entry level building automation systems openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions tend to focus on remote monitoring, software configuration, or technical support rather than field installation work.
Are these new grad building automation systems jobs?
Yes, these roles include new grad, recent graduate, and junior positions. A new grad friendly posting typically welcomes candidates with zero to two years of experience, accepts relevant internship work or a senior capstone project in place of full-time history, and often provides on-the-job training for the specific control systems the employer uses. Look for postings that list internship or co-op experience as acceptable rather than requiring prior professional employment.
Which industries hire the most entry level building automation systems?
Entry Level building automation systems roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, Manufacturing, and Staffing & Recruiting, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive consistent demand at the junior level because large commercial portfolios, infrastructure projects, and energy efficiency mandates create ongoing needs for technicians and controls specialists who can be trained on proprietary systems early in their careers.
