Business Development Consultant Jobs in Montana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business development consultant in Montana?
Business development consulting in Montana has no state-issued license or registration requirement, so the path runs through education and demonstrated experience. Most Montana employers expect a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related discipline. Building a record of closed deals or measurable revenue growth is the strongest qualifier. Professional certifications such as the Certified Business Development Expert credential can strengthen a candidate's profile, particularly with larger regional employers in Billings or Bozeman.
Which companies hire business development consultants in Montana?
Companies currently hiring business development consultants in Montana include Bozeman Health, Torgerson's, and Paychex, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Montana's healthcare networks, regional banks, and technology firms serving the energy and agriculture sectors are among the most consistent sources of business development consultant openings in the state.
Which Montana cities have the most business development consultant jobs?
Bozeman, Belgrade, and Billings have the most business development consultant openings in Montana. Billings leads as Montana's largest commercial center, anchored by healthcare, banking, and energy services employers, while Missoula's university presence and tech-services firms drive demand there, and Bozeman's rapid growth in technology startups and financial services has made it an increasingly active market for the role.
Are there remote business development consultant jobs in Montana?
Yes, and more than most fields, since business development consulting is largely a relationship-driven desk role that translates well to remote and hybrid arrangements. About 17% of business development consultant openings tied to Montana are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how broadly the role has shifted away from full-time on-site expectations. Strategic planning, proposal development, and virtual client outreach are the functions most frequently performed remotely.
How can I get hired as a business development consultant in Montana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through an inside sales, account coordinator, or business development representative role at a Montana employer, then moving into a consultant position after demonstrating results. Regional banks such as First Interstate BancSystem and healthcare organizations like Billings Clinic regularly hire entry-level relationship or outreach staff who develop into business development roles. Pursuing a Salesforce certification or completing a structured sales training program adds measurable credibility, and targeting smaller Bozeman-area technology firms that run lean teams gives candidates with limited experience the fastest path to hands-on responsibility.
Where can I find and apply to business development consultant jobs in Montana?
You can find and apply to business development consultant jobs in Montana on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to the state. Search the listings, find roles that fit your background and location, and apply directly to the ones that match.
