From there, building proficiency in SQL, a major BI platform, and cloud data tools is the practical next step. Many candidates in Massachusetts strengthen their candidacy with industry certifications from Microsoft, AWS, or Tableau before applying.
How much do business intelligence engineers make in Massachusetts?
Business intelligence engineers in Massachusetts earn a median of about $131,750 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $81,030 for the lowest 10% to over $206,220 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire business intelligence engineers in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring business intelligence engineers in Massachusetts right now include Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Rippling, and Boston College, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Massachusetts's concentration of financial services firms, biotech companies, and large healthcare systems means demand is spread across multiple high-data-volume industries rather than a single sector.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most business intelligence engineer jobs?
Boston, Waltham, and Newton have the most business intelligence engineer openings in Massachusetts. Boston and Cambridge anchor the market through their dense clusters of financial institutions, life sciences companies, and technology firms, while suburban Route 128 corridor cities draw demand from large insurance, healthcare, and defense contractors headquartered in that ring.
