Labcorp is seeking a Business Relationship Manager in either Durham, NC or Indianapolis, IN.
Work Schedule: This is a full‑time, exempt (salaried) position assigned to a First Shift schedule, with standard business hours from Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in your local time zone. Business needs may occasionally require flexibility in work hours, including earlier, later, or additional hours, with reasonable notice provided when possible.
Applicants who live within 35 miles of either the Durham, NC or Indianapolis, IN locations will follow a hybrid schedule. This schedule includes a minimum of three in-office days per week at an assigned location, either Durham or Indianapolis, supporting both collaboration and flexibility.
Job Summary:
The Business Relationship Manager (BRM) is a liaison between IT and the business. This role will have the responsibility for managing the IT efforts for one or more Business Departments.
The BRM is responsible to understand the business, industry trends, translating the business needs to technical needs & vice versa. Assist in the prioritization of projects; ensure that projects align with the technology that best provides maximum return on investment, and direct IT strategy in support of the overall global business strategy.
The BRM will also facilitate and improve the effectiveness of communication between IT and the business.
- Plans, organizes and leads business requirements and priorities for assigned areas.
- Understands business processes and priorities.
- Evaluates and makes technology recommendations to enhance business operations.
- Recognizes business strategies for his/her business group.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of industry and trends; uses this information to maintain continuous improvement.
- Pre-project business solution design.
- Creates and maintains a relationship with internal technology teams and external technology vendors.
- Identifies opportunities for operational efficiency.
- Develop long-range technology strategies, maintaining the IT Roadmap which ties to the Business imperatives.
- Understanding where compliance & regulatory compliance are needed.
Job Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain a solid relationship with the user community.
- Understands business processes and priorities.
- Coordinates and partners with the business on how to work with IT and ensures that business projects follow the IT governance process.
- Provide due diligence toward answering general technology / systems questions from the user community.
- Teams with senior leadership, applications development group and/or suppliers to ensure a timely, accurate and cost-effective IT solutions.
- Provides recommendations to technology business requirements, business objectives, budgets and timelines.
- Plans, organizes and leads business needs/requirements and priorities for assigned areas.
- Pre-project business solution design and guidance of project through the IT governance processes.
- Evaluates alternative vendor and technology solutions and participates in making technology recommendations to enhance business operations, while participating in make / buy recommendations.
- Leads the development of functional business requirements and helps the business assess relative priorities for technology solutions.
- Partners with the business to develop user process maps, user test plans and training materials associated with technology solutions. Participates in training and user test processes.
- Provide support to the Applications Development team, in regards to discretionary and non-discretionary business development requests.
- Assist in Service Level Agreement (SLA) negotiations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 8 or more years of Business / functional and IT experience.
- 8 or more years of demonstrated and proven experience in working with customers, identifying/understanding their needs, and formally documenting business requirements.
- 8 or more years of demonstrated and proven capability to forge strong working relationships with business and IT staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 or more years of Project management experience.
- 2 or more years of experience in working with external vendors / suppliers.
- 2 or more years of experience managing virtual teams.
- 2 or more years of experience and a good understanding of the Phase 2-4 business processes and challenges.
- 2 or more years of experience with implementing global IT solutions/technologies within scientific environments.
- 2 or more years of experience and the documented ability to work in a large clinical development business with a highly matrixed organizational structure and basic understanding of the Drug Development process.
- 2 or more years of experience in business process modeling and design.
- 2 or more years of experience of managing off-shore sourcing providers.
- 2 or more years of experience and prior experience of working in big Pharma.
- 2 or more years with strong IT, operational, financial and strategic planning and/or development experience.
- 2 or more years of experience working in a global and multicultural organization, including working across national and international boundaries.
- 2 or more years of experience in performing presentations and leading meetings.
- Current or prior Labcorp experience.

- Ability to provide leadership and training to others.
- Creative approach to resolving technical issues, and balancing business needs with compliance requirements.

Casual, PRN & Part Time employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours are eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan only.
