Certified Medical Assistant Jobs in Kansas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a certified medical assistant in Kansas?
Kansas does not require a state-issued license to work as a medical assistant, but most employers in the state require a nationally recognized credential such as the Certified Medical Assistant credential from the American Association of Medical Assistants or the Registered Medical Assistant credential from American Medical Technologists. Candidates earn these by completing an accredited medical assisting program at a Kansas community college or vocational school and passing the corresponding certification exam.
Which companies hire certified medical assistants in Kansas?
Companies currently hiring certified medical assistants in Kansas include Vibrant Health KC, Providence Medical Center, and AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Kansas's large integrated health systems and independent physician groups both post regularly, making the market competitive across urban and rural areas of the state.
Which Kansas cities have the most certified medical assistant jobs?
Kansas City, De Soto, and Overland Park are the Kansas cities with the most certified medical assistant openings. Wichita leads because of its concentration of major health systems and specialty clinics, while Kansas City benefits from proximity to large regional employers anchored on both sides of the state line, and Topeka draws consistent demand from state government-affiliated health facilities and regional hospital networks.
Are there remote certified medical assistant jobs in Kansas?
Yes, but they're rare. The certified medical assistant role is fundamentally hands-on, involving clinical tasks such as taking vitals, drawing blood, and assisting with procedures that require a physical presence. About 0% of certified medical assistant openings tied to Kansas are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions are almost exclusively in administrative or telehealth-support functions rather than direct patient care.
How can I get hired as a certified medical assistant in Kansas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is completing an accredited medical assisting program at a Kansas community college such as Johnson County Community College or Wichita Area Technical College, which include externship rotations that often lead directly to job offers. Large Kansas health systems including The University of Kansas Health System and Stormont Vail Health hire new graduates into entry-level clinical assistant roles. Candidates coming from adjacent positions such as patient services representative or medical receptionist can also transition with a certification credential in hand.
Where can I find and apply to certified medical assistant jobs in Kansas?
