Change Management Consultant Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a change management consultant in Texas?
Texas does not require a state-issued license to work as a change management consultant, so the path runs through education and professional certification. Most employers expect at least a bachelor's degree in business, organizational behavior, or a related field. Earning the Prosci Certified Change Practitioner credential or the Change Management Institute's CCMP designation strengthens applications considerably. Large Texas consulting firms and corporate employers in Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston typically treat certification as a differentiator when evaluating candidates for client-facing roles.
How much do change management consultants make in Texas?
Change management consultants in Texas earn a median of about $101,400 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $62,730 for the lowest 10% to over $168,420 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire change management consultants in Texas?
Employers hiring change management consultants in Texas right now include Grant Thornton (US), Avanade, and Baker Hughes, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, major health systems, and energy companies means both consulting firms and large internal transformation teams are consistently active in the market.
Which Texas cities have the most change management consultant jobs?
Dallas, Austin, and Houston account for the largest share of change management consultant openings in Texas. Dallas-Fort Worth leads because of its density of corporate headquarters and big-four consulting offices, Houston draws demand from energy and healthcare clients, and Austin's fast-growing technology sector generates steady advisory work for organizational transformation teams.
Are there remote change management consultant jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields, since the work centers on communication, training design, and stakeholder planning that translates well to virtual delivery. About 44% of change management consultant openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how broadly firms adopted distributed engagement models. The phases most commonly handled remotely are readiness assessments, communications planning, and training content development.
How can I get hired as a change management consultant in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a business analyst or project coordinator role inside a large Texas employer, then a lateral move once you have exposure to system rollouts or reorganizations. Deloitte, Accenture, and KPMG each run analyst and associate programs in their Dallas and Houston offices that place new graduates on transformation projects. A Prosci certification or a portfolio built from volunteer or academic change projects helps distinguish candidates. Healthcare systems like HCA Houston and financial institutions like Charles Schwab also hire change coordinators who develop into full consultant roles.
Where can I find and apply to change management consultant jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to change management consultant jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across industries and experience levels. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the ones that match.
