Charge RN Jobs in Washington: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a charge rn in Washington?
You become a charge rn in Washington by first holding an active RN license issued by the Washington State Department of Health, which requires passing the NCLEX-RN. From there, most Washington hospitals promote experienced bedside nurses into charge roles after demonstrating clinical competency and leadership readiness on their unit. An ADN can get you started, but a BSN is increasingly expected, and specialty certifications like CCRN or CEN strengthen your case for the step up.
Which companies hire charge rns in Washington?
Employers hiring charge rns in Washington right now include Providence, Providence Swedish, and Fresenius Medical Care, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Washington's large integrated health systems and regional medical centers drive the bulk of charge RN demand, particularly in high-acuity units where consistent leadership coverage is a staffing priority.
Which Washington cities have the most charge rn jobs?
The cities with the most charge rn openings in Washington are Seattle, Pasco, and Everett. Seattle dominates because of the density of major academic medical centers and specialty hospitals in the greater Puget Sound area, while Spokane anchors the eastern Washington market as the regional hub for inland healthcare systems, and Tacoma draws consistent volume through its large community hospital networks serving Pierce County.
Are there remote charge rn jobs in Washington?
Yes, but they're rare. Charge RN work is fundamentally floor-based, requiring direct oversight of unit operations, staff assignments, and patient care in real time. About 0% of charge rn openings tied to Washington are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those roles tend to be in care coordination, utilization review, or nurse supervisory functions that can be performed off-site rather than traditional shift charge positions.
How can I get hired as a charge rn in Washington with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is landing a bedside RN role first and building unit-specific experience before moving into charge. Washington systems like UW Medicine, MultiCare, and Providence run structured new graduate residency programs that place you directly in high-acuity units where charge exposure is built into the rotation. Lateral moves from roles like float pool nurse or charge tech can also accelerate the transition. Holding a current Washington DOH RN license and completing your BSN while working gives you the strongest standing when charge openings post internally.
Where can I find and apply to charge rn jobs in Washington?
You can find and apply to charge rn jobs in Washington on Migrate Mate, which lists current Washington openings updated regularly. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your experience and preferred location, and apply directly to each one that fits.
