Moxie is seeking a talented, driven, and experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team at Legacy Village. We are looking for a hands-on kitchen leader who is passionate about exceptional food, high-quality ingredients, and developing a strong team.
Our Sous Chef will work closely with the Executive Chef and culinary leadership to ensure consistent execution, maintain high standards, and create an environment where our team can thrive.
What You'll Do
- Assist the Executive Chef with the daily operation and leadership of the kitchen.
- Lead and motivate the culinary team during service while maintaining a professional, positive kitchen culture.
- Ensure consistent execution, presentation, quality, and timing of all menu items.
- Maintain Moxie's standards for steaks, seafood, sauces, sides, and other menu offerings.
- Monitor food quality, freshness, portion control, and proper food handling.
- Assist with ordering, receiving, inventory, and product organization.
- Help manage food and labor costs while minimizing waste.
- Train, coach, and develop cooks and other kitchen team members.
- Ensure proper preparation, organization, cleanliness, and sanitation throughout the kitchen.
- Follow and enforce all food-safety and sanitation procedures.
- Assist with menu development, specials, and seasonal offerings.
- Step into any station as needed and lead by example during busy services.
- Assist with scheduling and other administrative responsibilities as directed by the Executive Chef.
What We're Looking For
- Previous Sous Chef, Chef de Cuisine, or strong culinary leadership experience.
- Experience in a high-volume, upscale, or steakhouse environment preferred.
- Strong knowledge of professional cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
- Excellent understanding of meat preparation, seafood, sauces, and classic steakhouse cuisine.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm, organized, and solution-oriented in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistency.
- Ability to train and hold team members accountable while maintaining a positive working environment.
- ServSafe certification is preferred.
- Culinary degree or formal culinary training is a plus, but equivalent professional experience will be considered.
