Clinical Project Manager Jobs in Maine: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a clinical project manager in Maine?
Most clinical project managers in Maine enter the role with a bachelor's degree in a life sciences, nursing, or public health field, followed by hands-on experience in clinical operations, research coordination, or healthcare administration. Maine does not require a state-issued license specific to clinical project management, but employers strongly favor candidates holding the Project Management Professional credential or the SOCRA CCRP certification. Building experience as a clinical research coordinator at a MaineHealth or Northern Light Health site is one of the most direct paths into a project management role.
How much do clinical project managers make in Maine?
Clinical project managers in Maine earn a median of about $101,830 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $63,560 for the lowest 10% to over $147,640 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire clinical project managers in Maine?
Maine clinical project manager roles are posted by MaineHealth, ConvenientMD, and Northern Light Health and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Maine's healthcare systems and its expanding contract research and biotech sector are the most consistent sources of clinical project manager openings across the state.
Which Maine cities have the most clinical project manager jobs?
Portland, Scarborough, and Bangor are the Maine cities with the most clinical project manager openings. Portland leads because it anchors MaineHealth's largest hospital network and draws regional headquarters for research and health technology firms, while Bangor's concentration of Northern Light Health facilities and Augusta's state government health agencies sustain steady demand in those markets.
Are there remote clinical project manager jobs in Maine?
Yes, and more than most clinical roles, because clinical project management is largely desk-based work involving protocol oversight, vendor coordination, and documentation rather than direct patient care. About 33% of clinical project manager openings tied to Maine are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the growing acceptance of distributed trial management teams. Regulatory affairs, data management, and sponsor-facing coordination functions are the parts of the role most commonly offered remotely.
How can I get hired as a clinical project manager in Maine with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as a clinical research coordinator at one of Maine's large health systems, where hands-on trial site experience builds the operational foundation that hiring managers look for. MaineHealth and Northern Light Health both run research departments that hire coordinators without prior project management titles. Earning the SOCRA CCRP credential early signals credibility, and lateral moves from roles such as research nurse, study monitor, or regulatory affairs associate are common stepping stones into a first project manager position in Maine.
Where can I find and apply to clinical project manager jobs in Maine?
You can find and apply to clinical project manager jobs in Maine on Migrate Mate, which lists current Maine openings in one place. Search the listings, find the roles that fit your background and the Maine location or remote arrangement you want, and apply directly to the ones that match.
