Summary
The Cloud Platform Foundations team builds and operates the core infrastructure behind Temporal Cloud, with a focus on reliability, scalability, and automation. The team owns foundational systems including high availability and disaster recovery, control plane automation, resource and namespace management, and the customer-facing interfaces that shape how users integrate with the platform—from our APIs and CLI to the Terraform provider, SDKs, and Kubernetes operator.
In this role, you'll build systems that directly strengthen Temporal Cloud's resilience, performance, and developer experience. You'll work closely with engineers and product managers to automate critical operations, evolve our multi-tenant control plane, reduce blast radius, improve namespace density, and build safer CI/CD pipelines. If you enjoy solving ambiguous, high-leverage infrastructure problems and creating durable tools that help both customers and engineers move faster, we'd love to meet you.
What You'll Do
High Availability & Disaster Recovery (HA/DR) — Enabling continuous regional failover and improving platform resilience.
Control Plane Automation — Automating operations to improve reliability and developer efficiency.
Database Performance and Optimization: Our data layer is scaling beyond its current limits. We need someone who can scale it by orders of magnitude while holding the line on latency, reliability, and availability.
Deployment Plane: As our deploy frequency and engineering headcount both climb, we own redesigning the path from commit to production, drawing on strong infrastructure, deployment tooling, and systems design expertise.
CI/CD for Control Plane — Building reliable pipelines for safer rollouts, faster iteration, and better test coverage.

What You Can Expect
High-impact ownership over systems tied directly to revenue, customer lifecycle, and platform scalability
Collaborative engineering culture focused on quality, pragmatism, and measurable outcomes
Exceptional technical colleagues and a feedback-rich environment
Lean processes and autonomy without unnecessary bureaucracy
Strong emphasis on reliability and operational excellence—balanced with rapid iteration
A team that values mentorship, thoughtful design, and steady improvements that compound over time
What You'll Bring
Backend engineering experience with a cloud/infrastructure focus, ideally with some ops exposure — a blend of infra and database-driven systems.
Experience on a control plane team for cloud-based microservices.
Background building or operating multi-tenant SaaS applications.
Familiarity with density-oriented cloud provider architectures.
Strong Postgres (or similar relational database) experience.
Track record designing for high availability, and managing compute and traffic at scale.
Solid database chops, and a bias toward building rather than just configuring — you'd rather write the tool than click through one.
CLI and DevOps fluency.
Nice to Have - Exposure to data pipelining.

Cloud Sales Engineer Jobs in Austin: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a cloud sales engineer job in Austin?
The strongest path into Austin's cloud sales engineering market runs through the Domain and Downtown tech corridors, where SaaS companies, cloud infrastructure firms, and enterprise software vendors concentrate. Candidates with hands-on experience in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud platform sales cycles have the clearest edge locally. Building relationships through Austin tech meetups and local Salesforce or AWS user groups also puts you in front of the hiring managers who fill these roles first.
Which companies hire cloud sales engineers in Austin?
Companies currently hiring cloud sales engineers in Austin include Apple, Amazon Web Services, and Brivo, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Austin's hiring base runs from established enterprise tech firms and regional cloud consultancies to fast-growing SaaS startups that have made the city one of the top tech employment centers in the South.
Are there remote cloud sales engineer jobs in Austin?
Yes, and cloud sales engineering is more remote-friendly than most technical roles because the work centers on demos, solution design, and client calls rather than on-site equipment. About 67% of cloud sales engineer openings tied to Austin are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how the broader SaaS and cloud infrastructure sector operates. The most fully remote arrangements tend to cluster at enterprise software companies with distributed sales teams.
How can I get a cloud sales engineer job in Austin with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Austin is moving laterally from a technical support or solutions consultant role at one of the city's many SaaS or managed services companies. Austin's mid-size cloud startups and regional IT consultancies often hire associate sales engineers and promote from within, making them better starting points than the large enterprise vendors. Earning an AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Salesforce certification before applying signals technical credibility and meaningfully shortens the hiring conversation.
Which industries hire the most cloud sales engineers in Austin?
Most cloud sales engineer openings in Austin sit in Electronics & Hardware, Technology & Software, and Law & Legal Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Austin's identity as a hub for software companies relocating from California, combined with its growing fintech and healthcare IT sectors, creates consistent demand for engineers who can translate complex cloud solutions into business outcomes for buyers across those industries.
