LifeWay Health & Wellness is an independent primary care and integrative health clinic in Maple Grove, Minnesota. We provide personalized care for patients of all ages, including primary care, pediatrics, women’s health, chronic disease management, preventive care, hormone management, weight management, functional and integrative medicine services, and specialty testing. We also have a significant cash-pay and self-pay patient population in addition to patients using commercial insurance.

Our goal is to provide thoughtful, individualized care in a smaller practice setting where patients are known personally and have more time with their providers. Because we are an independent clinic, accurate and efficient billing is especially important to the long-term health of the practice.

We are seeking an experienced part-time Medical Biller & Coding Specialist to help manage our insurance billing, accounts receivable, denials, appeals, and coding-related needs.

This position is well suited for an experienced biller looking for a consistent, flexible part-time role.

Responsibilities will include:

• Review and submit medical insurance claims
• Review coding for appropriate CPT, ICD-10, modifiers, and documentation
• Correct rejected claims
• Follow up on unpaid and denied claims
• Work insurance A/R
• Prepare corrected claims, reconsiderations, and appeals
• Review EOBs and ERAs for payment accuracy
• Identify insurance underpayments and reimbursement discrepancies
• Compare reimbursement with contracted payer rates when necessary
• Follow up directly with insurance companies regarding payment issues
• Communicate recurring coding, documentation, or payer issues to clinic leadership
• Assist providers with coding questions when needed
• Monitor aging claims and ensure claims are followed through resolution
• Assist with insurance credentialing or payer-related administrative needs as needed
• Maintain accurate and organized billing records

Qualifications Required:

• At least 3 years of medical billing experience
• Strong understanding of CPT and ICD-10 coding
• Experience with commercial insurance billing
• Experience working denials and accounts receivable
• Ability to independently investigate claim and reimbursement issues
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent follow-through and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently

Qualifications Preferred:

• CPC, CPB, CCS, or similar certification
• Primary care/family medicine billing experience
• Experience with Minnesota insurance carriers
• Experience identifying payer underpayments
• Experience with appeals and payer disputes
• Experience with Elation Health

Schedule:

Approximately 10–15 hours per week.

Hours are somewhat flexible. Additional hours may occasionally be available for special projects, payer audits, credentialing, backlog reduction, or other revenue-cycle needs.

LifeWay is a small independent practice, so we are looking for someone who takes ownership of their work.

We value someone who does more than simply submit claims. The ideal candidate notices when a claim has not paid correctly, investigates the issue, follows it through resolution, and alerts leadership when a payer or workflow pattern needs attention.

Efficiency, accuracy, persistence, and follow-through are extremely important in this role.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10.0 – 15.0 per week
