Tips for Your Commercial Excellence Manager Job Search
Quantify your commercial impact specifically
Hiring managers for this role want numbers tied to revenue growth, margin improvement, or sales productivity gains. Rewrite your resume bullets to show the before-and-after of initiatives you led, not just the tools or frameworks you used.
Tailor your resume to the industry vertical
A commercial excellence manager resume for a life sciences company should foreground CRM governance and tender management, while a consumer goods resume should highlight trade promotion optimization and distribution analytics. Generic resumes lose to tailored ones at screening.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists commercial excellence manager openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Target companies mid-transformation not post-transformation
Commercial excellence functions get built, not maintained. Companies actively investing in CRM rollouts, pricing redesigns, or sales model changes need this role most urgently. Look for job descriptions that mention building, launching, or standing up capability, not just managing existing processes.
Prepare a case study for your interview
Most panels will ask you to walk through a commercial problem you solved end-to-end. Prepare one example that covers diagnosis, cross-functional alignment, implementation, and measurable outcome. Vague answers about 'driving alignment' without a concrete result lose points.
Negotiate scope alongside compensation
Because this role often sits at the intersection of sales, marketing, and finance, its authority can be ambiguous. Before accepting an offer, clarify which functions report to or partner with you, what budget you control, and how success gets measured in the first year.
Commercial Excellence Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most commercial excellence managers?
The companies hiring the most commercial excellence managers right now include Alvarez & Marsal, Quest Diagnostics, and Thermo Fisher Scientific, with the largest share of openings in New Jersey, California, and Texas, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Life sciences and consumer goods companies consistently account for the highest concentration of active postings.
How many commercial excellence manager jobs are remote?
About 72% of commercial excellence manager openings are fully remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the role's dependence on cross-functional collaboration and executive stakeholder access. Sub-areas focused on analytics, reporting, and process design tend to offer the most remote flexibility, while roles with direct field sales oversight more often require on-site or regional presence.
How do you become a commercial excellence manager?
Start by building several years of experience in sales operations, commercial strategy, pricing, or marketing analytics. Move into roles that require cross-functional project leadership, since this position sits at the intersection of multiple teams. Develop fluency in CRM systems and commercial performance data, then pursue opportunities where you own a measurable improvement initiative rather than supporting one.
Can you get a commercial excellence manager role without direct experience in the title?
Yes, many candidates transition from adjacent roles in sales operations, trade marketing, business development, or management consulting. Employers care more about whether you have led commercial improvement projects and can influence without direct authority than whether your previous title matched. Framing your resume around cross-functional outcomes and process ownership closes most of the gap.
What does the commercial excellence manager interview process look like?
The process typically runs three to four rounds. An initial recruiter screen is followed by a hiring manager conversation focused on your background and a specific commercial problem you solved. A panel round with sales, marketing, and finance stakeholders tests cross-functional credibility. Final rounds often include a case study or presentation where you diagnose a commercial challenge and recommend a structured response.
Where can I find and apply to commercial excellence manager jobs?
You can find and apply to commercial excellence manager jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Search the listings to find roles that match your background and apply directly to each one that fits.
