Commercial Specialist Jobs in Houston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a commercial specialist job in Houston?
Focus your search on Houston's three strongest hiring sectors for this role: energy and oilfield services, industrial and chemical distribution, and commercial real estate. Jobs concentrate in the Energy Corridor, Westchase, and Downtown. Candidates who stand out typically bring contract negotiation experience, familiarity with B2B sales cycles in commodities or industrial markets, and direct ties to Houston supplier or operator networks.
Which companies hire commercial specialists in Houston?
Employers hiring commercial specialists in Houston right now include Danos, Ascot, and Oceaneering, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Houston's hiring base runs from large integrated energy operators and petrochemical companies to regional commercial real estate firms and industrial distributors with Gulf Coast operations.
Are there remote commercial specialist jobs in Houston?
Yes, though it depends heavily on the role. Desk-based and analytical commercial specialist positions, such as contract analysis, pricing, and inside sales support, can often be done remotely, while field-facing or site-based roles require in-person presence. About 60% of commercial specialist openings tied to Houston are remote or hybrid as of August 2026. Energy sector roles in particular tend to require on-site availability for vendor and operator meetings.
How can I get a commercial specialist job in Houston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Houston is through inside sales or commercial analyst roles at industrial distributors and oilfield services companies, many of which hire at the junior level and train on contract and pricing fundamentals. Companies in the petrochemical supply chain and commercial property management firms also bring on coordinators and junior account associates. A background in business, supply chain, or engineering gives you a practical edge with Houston employers.
Which industries hire the most commercial specialists in Houston?
