Communications Manager Jobs in Atlanta: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a communications manager job in Atlanta?
Start by targeting Atlanta's strongest hiring sectors: healthcare systems, Fortune 500 corporate offices, nonprofits, and higher education institutions concentrated in Midtown and Buckhead. Candidates who stand out typically bring experience with crisis communications, executive messaging, or stakeholder engagement. Building relationships through Atlanta Press Club events or PRSA Georgia chapters gives local candidates a concrete edge over remote applicants.
Which companies hire communications managers in Atlanta?
Employers hiring communications managers in Atlanta right now include The Home Depot, Global Payments, and Visa, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Atlanta's employer mix skews toward large healthcare networks, global logistics firms, financial services companies, and mission-driven nonprofits, all of which maintain active in-house communications teams.
Are there remote communications manager jobs in Atlanta?
Yes, though remote availability depends on the role type since positions involving executive visibility, event coordination, or media relations tend to require on-site presence. About 42% of communications manager openings tied to Atlanta are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common at corporate headquarters in Buckhead and Midtown. Digital content and internal communications roles lean most remote-friendly locally.
How can I get a communications manager job in Atlanta with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through communications coordinator or public relations specialist roles at Atlanta's large nonprofit sector or university communications offices, where junior candidates regularly advance. Georgia State University, Emory Healthcare, and Atlanta-based advocacy organizations frequently hire entry-level staff who grow into manager roles. A portfolio demonstrating press releases, social content, or internal newsletters carries significant weight when direct management experience is limited.
Which industries hire the most communications managers in Atlanta?
Most communications manager openings in Atlanta sit in Technology & Software, Construction & Real Estate, and Banking & Financial Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Atlanta's role as a regional headquarters hub for healthcare, logistics, and financial services means these sectors maintain large, permanent communications functions rather than relying on agencies or contractors.
