Community Outreach Specialist Jobs in Louisiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a community outreach specialist in Louisiana?
Most community outreach specialist roles in Louisiana require at minimum a bachelor's degree in public health, social work, sociology, or a closely related field, though some nonprofit and government employers accept an associate's degree combined with relevant field experience. Louisiana does not issue a state license specific to this title, but roles tied to social services or case management may benefit from a Louisiana Licensed Social Worker credential through the Louisiana State Board of Social Work Examiners. Employers across New Orleans and Baton Rouge also value field experience through AmeriCorps or Louisiana's community action agency network.
Which companies hire community outreach specialists in Louisiana?
Employers hiring community outreach specialists in Louisiana right now include CableSouth Media III, Upward Health, and Devoted Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Louisiana's large health systems, public health nonprofits, and state agency offices are consistently among the most active hirers for this role across the state.
Which Louisiana cities have the most community outreach specialist jobs?
The cities with the most community outreach specialist openings in Louisiana are Louisiana, Many, and Flora. New Orleans drives the largest share of postings given its concentration of public health nonprofits, federally qualified health centers, and post-disaster recovery organizations, while Baton Rouge reflects demand from state government agencies and major health systems like Ochsner and Our Lady of the Lake.
Are there remote community outreach specialist jobs in Louisiana?
Yes, but they're rare. Community outreach work is inherently field-based, built around in-person engagement with Louisiana residents, community events, and local partner organizations. About 100% of community outreach specialist openings tied to Louisiana are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those tend to be coordination or program management roles rather than direct outreach positions.
How can I get hired as a community outreach specialist in Louisiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through an AmeriCorps placement with a Louisiana program like the Louisiana Serve Commission or a community health worker role at a federally qualified health center, both of which regularly bring on candidates without prior professional experience. Louisiana's community action agencies, including the Louisiana Community Action Association network, hire entry-level outreach staff and offer on-the-job training. Candidates who complete a community health worker certificate through Delgado Community College or Southern University gain a meaningful edge with local public health employers.
Where can I find and apply to community outreach specialist jobs in Louisiana?
You can find and apply to community outreach specialist jobs in Louisiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current Louisiana openings from employers actively hiring. Search the roles that fit your background and apply directly to the ones that match your experience and location.
