The Senior Analyst will collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to gain an understanding of technology capabilities and advise them on mechanisms to mitigate insider risk activity while enabling collaboration.

- Develop and maintain Splunk searches, correlation logic, dashboards, and reports to support DLP investigations, alert triage, and program metrics.
- Continuously review the alert queue to identify tuning opportunities, detection gaps, and candidates for new use cases.
- Correlate DLP telemetry with other data sources, endpoint, email, cloud, identity, and network logs to build complete pictures of potential data exfiltration.
- Support the migration from the legacy DLP platform, including use-case mapping, policy translation, validation testing, and detection parity verification.
- Partner with Legal, HR, Compliance, and Privacy on investigations requiring cross functional coordination, and prepare clear written findings for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Mentor junior analysts, document investigative procedures, and contribute to playbooks and runbooks that improve team consistency and efficiency.

- Bachelor's Degree in Information Security, Computer Science or any related field and 6 years’ experience; or Master’s Degree and 5 years’ experience; or PhD and 0 years’ experience.
- Respective years of experience in information security, with demonstrated years focused specifically on data loss prevention or insider risk.
- Hands on experience with Microsoft Purview DLP including policy creation, rule tuning, and alert investigation across endpoint, email, and cloud channels. Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management experience is a strong plus.
- Demonstrated Splunk experience, including writing SPL searches, building dashboards and correlation logic, and using Splunk to support security investigations.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills, with a proven track record of working complex cases independently and reaching defensible conclusions from incomplete or ambiguous data.
- Solid understanding of data classification, regulatory drivers (HIPAA, GDPR, PCI-DSS, or similar), and common data exfiltration methods.
- Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to document investigative findings clearly for legal, HR, and executive audiences.

Build pharma-specific data portfolio projects
AbbVie's data engineering roles frequently involve clinical trial datasets, HEOR modeling, and commercial sales analytics. Before applying, build or document portfolio work that touches healthcare or life sciences data, even if from public sources like CMS or FDA datasets.
Target roles tied to real-world evidence
AbbVie's immunology and oncology pipelines drive heavy investment in real-world evidence platforms. Data Analytics Engineer postings aligned to these therapeutic areas tend to have dedicated headcount, which means more predictable sponsorship pathways than project-based openings.
Verify your OPT STEM extension eligibility early
Data Analytics Engineer roles at AbbVie typically fall under STEM-designated CIP codes. If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your degree qualifies for the 24-month STEM extension before your initial OPT expires, so your authorization window aligns with AbbVie's H-1B filing cycle.
Align your application timing to the H-1B cap
AbbVie files H-1B cap registrations in March for an October 1 start. If you receive an offer outside that window, ask the recruiter whether cap-exempt status or an alternative like E-3 or TN applies to your situation before assuming you'll need to wait a full cycle.
Browse open Data Analytics Engineer roles on Migrate Mate
Filter by AbbVie on Migrate Mate to see which Data Analytics Engineer postings are currently active and which visa types are associated with the role. This helps you prioritize applications based on sponsorship fit before reaching out to recruiters.
Understand how PERM affects your green card timeline
AbbVie sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards through the PERM labor certification process. DOL requires AbbVie to conduct a domestic recruitment audit before filing, so your green card clock typically starts six to twelve months after your H-1B approval.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does AbbVie sponsor H-1B visas for Data Analytics Engineers?
Yes, AbbVie sponsors H-1B visas for Data Analytics Engineers. The company files petitions through the standard cap process, with registrations submitted in March for an October 1 start date. If you're already on an H-1B with another employer, AbbVie can file an H-1B transfer, letting you start work as soon as USCIS receives the petition, without waiting for approval.
How do I apply for Data Analytics Engineer jobs at AbbVie?
Apply directly through AbbVie's careers portal, where Data Analytics Engineer roles are listed by business unit and location. Tailoring your resume to highlight data pipeline tools, cloud platforms like AWS or Azure, and any experience with healthcare or clinical data increases your chances of progressing. You can also browse current openings filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate before applying.
Which visa types does AbbVie commonly use for Data Analytics Engineer roles?
AbbVie uses H-1B, H-1B1 visa (for Chilean and Singaporean nationals), E-3 visa (for Australian citizens), TN visa (for Canadian and Mexican nationals), and F-1 OPT and CPT for students. For longer-term immigration, AbbVie supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through the DOL PERM labor certification process for qualifying Data Analytics Engineers.
What qualifications does AbbVie expect for Data Analytics Engineer positions?
AbbVie typically looks for a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, data science, statistics, or a related quantitative field. Hands-on experience with SQL, Python, and cloud-based data warehousing platforms is standard. Roles tied to commercial analytics or real-world evidence may also require familiarity with pharma-specific data sources such as IQVIA, Symphony Health, or claims datasets.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take at AbbVie for this role?
For H-1B transfers from an existing employer, work authorization can begin within days of USCIS receiving the petition. For new H-1B cap filings, the process runs March through October, with a five-to-six-month gap between registration and start date. Green Card sponsorship through PERM is a separate, longer process that typically begins after you've established yourself in the role.
