Align your credentials to biopharma deal-making
AbbVie Partnership Development roles center on licensing, co-promotion, and alliance management in therapeutics. Frame your CV around deal lifecycles, cross-functional collaboration, and commercial strategy in life sciences, not generic business development experience.
Target AbbVie's therapeutic area business units
AbbVie structures partnership development around immunology, oncology, neuroscience, and aesthetics. Applying through the specific business unit aligned to your background, rather than a general listing, puts your application in front of the team most likely to sponsor.
Prepare for the specialty occupation standard
USCIS evaluates whether a Partnership Development Manager role requires a specifically related degree. Obtain transcripts and credential evaluations early, particularly if your degree field is business rather than life sciences, since adjudicators scrutinize the nexus for this role type.
Use Migrate Mate to surface active sponsorship listings
Partnership Development Manager openings at AbbVie that include visa sponsorship are not always clearly labeled on general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for AbbVie roles that have a confirmed sponsorship history for this function.
Account for PERM timing if targeting permanent residence
AbbVie supports EB-2 and EB-3 pathways, but PERM labor certification can take twelve months or longer before an I-140 is filed. If your nonimmigrant status has a limited runway, raise the green card timeline explicitly during offer negotiations, not after you start.

Find Partnership Development Manager at AbbVie JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does AbbVie sponsor H-1B visas for Partnership Development Managers?
Yes, AbbVie sponsors H-1B visas for Partnership Development Manager roles. The company works with immigration counsel to prepare the Labor Condition Application through DOL and the I-129 petition through USCIS. Because H-1B sponsorship depends on cap availability or cap-exempt circumstances, confirming your current status and eligibility early in the offer process is essential.
How do I apply for Partnership Development Manager jobs at AbbVie?
Applications go through AbbVie's careers portal, where roles are listed by therapeutic area and business unit. Tailoring your application to a specific franchise, such as immunology or oncology, improves relevance. You can also browse active Partnership Development Manager openings at AbbVie that include visa sponsorship on Migrate Mate, which filters listings by sponsorship track record.
Which visa types does AbbVie commonly sponsor for Partnership Development Manager roles?
AbbVie sponsors a range of visa categories for this function, including H-1B, H-1B1 for Chilean and Singaporean nationals, E-3 for Australian citizens, TN for Canadian and Mexican professionals, F-1 OPT and CPT for current students, and J-1 for exchange visitors. For candidates pursuing permanent residence, AbbVie also supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through PERM labor certification.
What qualifications does AbbVie expect for Partnership Development Manager positions?
AbbVie typically looks for experience in licensing, alliance management, or business development within biotechnology or pharmaceuticals. A background in life sciences, combined with commercial or deal-structuring experience, is the most competitive profile. Roles involving therapeutic area strategy may also require familiarity with co-promotion agreements, term sheet negotiation, or cross-functional program governance within a regulated industry environment.
How do I manage the visa sponsorship timeline when joining AbbVie for this role?
The timeline depends on your current status and visa category. H-1B transfers from another employer can proceed without waiting for the next cap cycle, allowing a start date shortly after USCIS receives the petition. E-3 and TN renewals move faster, often within weeks. For OPT candidates, cap-gap protection covers the gap between OPT expiration and the October 1 H-1B start date, provided the petition was filed before your OPT expired.
