INTRODUCTION
Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest.
The Risk & Analytics team makes crucial decisions that direct Affirm's business strategy. Our team designs and runs experiments to decide which product features to launch and which marketing campaigns to fund. We analyze performance not just to report on it, but to determine where to invest resources for maximum impact through building tools and analytical frameworks. We take ownership of the entire analytical lifecycle, from initial question to final business decision, ensuring Affirm grows efficiently and intelligently.
The Credit team works cross-functionally with Machine Learning, Product, Engineering, Capital Markets, and Commercial teams to responsibly manage the risk profile of the business. We're looking for a thoughtful, driven individual who wants to learn, grow, and solve hard problems. The team's mandate is to enable sustainable growth while closely managing the profitability and resilience of our portfolio. As Affirm continues on an exciting growth trajectory; thinking through credit policies for new initiatives and products, shaping ongoing testing and experimentation, and being ready for navigating through any exogenous changes will be important problems to tackle.
The ideal candidate brings exceptional analytical rigor, deep credit domain expertise, and the ability to influence stakeholders across both technical and non-technical teams. You thrive in ambiguity, can translate complex regulatory and economic insights into actionable credit strategies, and are comfortable operating at both strategic and execution levels.
Come join us in our mission to change consumer finance through better data and technology, lower costs, and increased transparency while providing the best customer experience!

Frame your stack around fintech infrastructure
Affirm's engineering teams work on payment processing, lending systems, and real-time risk evaluation. Highlight experience with distributed systems, API design, or financial data pipelines in your resume so your background maps directly to their product surface area.
Clarify your OPT timeline during screening
If you're on F-1 OPT, tell your recruiter your exact STEM extension eligibility and end date upfront. Affirm can work within tight timelines, but delays come from misaligned expectations about how much authorized work time remains before an H-1B petition needs to be filed.
Target teams where sponsorship has clear precedent
Affirm sponsors across engineering functions, but product-facing full stack roles tied to their consumer app and merchant checkout surface tend to have the most active hiring. Prioritize open roles tied to these product lines when filtering job listings.
Ask about PERM timing during the offer stage
For EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card pathways, PERM labor certification is the first and slowest step. Ask during negotiation whether Affirm starts the PERM process at a fixed tenure milestone or on request, so you can plan your long-term status accordingly.
Verify E-Verify enrollment before accepting an offer
As a financial services company, Affirm participates in E-Verify, which is required to employ F-1 STEM OPT workers. Confirm this with your recruiter before signing, since your OPT work authorization depends on your employer's active E-Verify enrollment.
Use Migrate Mate to surface active sponsoring roles
Affirm posts full stack roles across multiple teams at different times. Use Migrate Mate to filter open Full Stack Product Engineer positions at Affirm by visa type, so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is already confirmed rather than asking about it after applying.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Affirm sponsor H-1B visas for Full Stack Product Engineers?
Yes, Affirm sponsors H-1B visas for Full Stack Product Engineers. The company has a consistent track record of filing H-1B petitions for engineering roles, and full stack positions are among the functions they hire internationally for. If you're subject to the H-1B cap lottery, timing your application cycle and securing an offer before the March registration window is critical.
How do I apply for Full Stack Product Engineer jobs at Affirm?
Apply directly through Affirm's careers page or browse verified open roles on Migrate Mate, which filters Affirm's listings by visa sponsorship eligibility. Affirm's engineering hiring process typically includes a recruiter screen, a technical assessment covering system design and full stack coding, and panel interviews with product and engineering stakeholders before an offer is extended.
Which visa types does Affirm commonly sponsor for Full Stack Product Engineer roles?
Affirm sponsors H-1B visas as the primary work authorization pathway for full stack engineers. They also support F-1 OPT and CPT for candidates already in the U.S. on student visas, TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying roles, and EB-2 or EB-3 immigrant visa petitions for employees pursuing permanent residency.
What qualifications does Affirm look for in Full Stack Product Engineers?
Affirm typically expects proficiency across both frontend and backend systems, with experience in modern JavaScript frameworks, Python or Kotlin on the backend, and distributed cloud infrastructure. Given their product focus on payments and lending, familiarity with building reliable, high-throughput financial systems or consumer-facing transaction flows carries significant weight in the hiring process.
How do I time my application if my work authorization has an upcoming expiration?
If you're on STEM OPT, apply at least six to eight months before your authorization expires to allow time for H-1B cap registration in March and USCIS processing before your current status ends. For cap-exempt situations or TN renewals, timelines are shorter, but confirming Affirm's internal processing lead time with their immigration team early in the offer stage avoids last-minute gaps.
