INTRODUCTION
Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest.
Affirm is building its own bank — and this role sits at the center of that ambition. We're looking for a Staff Product Manager to own the end-to-end bank product: operationalizing a new bank charter within Affirm's ecosystem, launching the deposit product, driving loan originations through the bank entity, and ensuring seamless integration across Affirm's platform. This is a rare opportunity to build a foundational new business line from the ground up — one that will reshape how Affirm funds, serves, and grows relationships with its consumers. You'll work at the intersection of regulated banking, platform engineering, and consumer products to bring Affirm's bank to life.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own the end-to-end bank product. Serve as the single-threaded product owner across deposits, loan originations, banking compliance, and operations. You are the person who holds the full picture of how the bank works within Affirm's ecosystem — and you drive it forward.
- Launch and own the bank's deposit product. Ship Affirm's bank deposit offering as part of launch, then own the deposit product roadmap on a go-forward basis – scaling from early launch to a multi-billion-dollar deposit base, making strategic decisions about how deposits integrate with Affirm's credit products and broader consumer experience.
- Operationalize the de novo bank build. Drive the cross-functional work required to stand up and scale bank operations — ensuring regulatory readiness, process maturity, vendor integrations, and seamless connectivity with Affirm's existing lending and money movement infrastructure.
- Drive originations through the bank entity. Shape how Affirm originates and retains loans through its own bank, working closely with Credit, Capital Markets, Engineering, and Treasury to optimize volume ramp, unit economics, loan sale and retention mechanics, and regulatory compliance.
- Navigate banking compliance and regulatory requirements. Partner with Legal, Compliance, Risk, and the Bank's executive team to ensure all products and operations meet federal and state regulatory standards. Build compliance into the product from day one — not as an afterthought. Understand the unique demands of a de novo bank under FDIC and state supervision.
- Integrate the bank deposit product into Affirm's consumer ecosystem. Define clear domain boundaries, design requirements for new data flows, and integration points between the bank and Affirm Inc. — working across Servicing, Settlements, Consumer Payments, Checkout, and Growth teams to ensure the bank's products work seamlessly within the Affirm app and platform.
- Influence up and across the organization. Communicate strategy, tradeoffs, and priorities to senior leadership and the Bank Board with clarity and conviction. Build alignment across a broad set of stakeholders — Engineering, Legal, Compliance, Treasury, Capital Markets, and executive leadership — who each bring different constraints and incentives.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 6+ years of product management experience, with demonstrated ability to operate as a strategic, independent leader on complex, ambiguous initiatives
- Proven program leadership at scale — you've owned high visibility cross-functional launches across many stakeholders, with direct exposure to executive leadership and/or boards.
- Experience in banking, deposits, or lending — you understand deposit products, bank charter operations, or loan origination mechanics and the regulatory landscape that governs them
- Bank charter experience is strongly preferred — you've been through or contributed meaningfully to a de novo bank launch or early-stage bank buildout
- Deposit product strategy experience is a strong plus — you've defined or scaled deposit products such as high yield savings accounts, spending accounts, or CDs, and you understand the levers of deposit growth, pricing, and consumer acquisition
- Experience in fintech, financial services, or banking; familiarity with BNPL, neobanking, or platform products is a plus
- Strong technical fluency — you're comfortable working with engineers on system design, data models, API architecture, and core banking platform integrations
- Proficiency with AI-assisted tools (e.g., Claude, Cursor) to accelerate your own work and raise the bar for quality and speed
- Demonstrated ability to drive cross-functional alignment across Legal, Compliance, Engineering, Finance, and executive leadership in highly regulated environments
- Exceptional written and verbal communication — you can distill complex regulatory and financial concepts into clear, compelling narratives for diverse audiences including regulators, executives, and engineering teams
- Bias for action and intellectual curiosity — you move fast, ask hard questions, and take ownership before being asked
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience

Align your PM portfolio to fintech products
Affirm prioritizes PMs with experience shipping consumer financial products, credit decisioning tools, or payment rails. Before applying, reframe your portfolio around outcomes like conversion rates, risk reduction, or loan performance rather than generic product metrics.
Verify your OPT or CPT timeline before applying
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your remaining authorization window covers Affirm's typical hiring cycle. Affirm sponsors H-1B cap cases, but USCIS lottery registration opens in March and employment can't start before October 1, so timing your offer matters.
Target Affirm's platform and growth PM tracks
Affirm's PM openings cluster around merchant integrations, underwriting, and consumer app experiences. Focusing your outreach on these product areas, rather than applying broadly, improves your chances of landing a role with a team actively building and backfilling.
Ask explicitly about Green Card sponsorship during offers
Affirm sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 pathways, but PERM labor certification timelines vary by role and location. During offer negotiations, ask the recruiting team which immigration pathway they support for your level and whether they use outside immigration counsel.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open PM roles by visa type
Affirm posts Product Manager roles across multiple levels and product areas at any given time. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for positions open to your visa category so you're applying where sponsorship is already confirmed, not guessing.
Prepare for TN classification if you hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship
TN status for PMs typically requires demonstrating your role qualifies under the Computer Systems Analyst or Engineer category, which depends heavily on job description framing. Review the DOL's USMCA professional categories and confirm your offer letter aligns before your border crossing or consular appointment.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Affirm sponsor H-1B visas for Product Managers?
Yes, Affirm sponsors H-1B visas for Product Manager roles. The company participates in the annual H-1B cap lottery and has sponsored both initial cap cases and transfers for existing H-1B holders. If you're already on H-1B with another employer, Affirm can file an H-1B transfer, which lets you start working before USCIS approves the petition under portability rules.
How do I apply for Product Manager jobs at Affirm?
Applications go through Affirm's careers site, where PM roles are listed by team and seniority level. Before applying, tailor your resume to highlight fintech or consumer financial product experience, since Affirm's hiring teams look for direct relevance to credit, payments, or lending workflows. You can also browse current openings filtered by visa type on Migrate Mate to confirm sponsorship eligibility before submitting.
Which visa types does Affirm commonly use for Product Manager hires?
Affirm sponsors H-1B, TN visa, and F-1 OPT and CPT for Product Manager roles. For longer-term employment, the company supports Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 and EB-3 pathways, which involve PERM labor certification filed with the DOL. The right visa depends on your citizenship, current status, and career stage, so confirm the pathway with Affirm's recruiting or immigration team during the offer stage.
What qualifications does Affirm expect for Product Manager roles?
Affirm typically expects PM candidates to have a bachelor's degree in a technical or business field, though advanced degrees are common for senior-level roles. Beyond credentials, the company looks for experience managing product roadmaps in financial services, consumer technology, or API-driven platforms. Demonstrated fluency with data, credit risk concepts, or merchant integrations strengthens an application significantly for roles tied to Affirm's core lending products.
How do I navigate the visa sponsorship process after receiving an offer from Affirm?
Once Affirm extends an offer, their immigration counsel typically handles the H-1B petition or LCA filing with the DOL, depending on your visa type. For cap-subject H-1B cases, the process starts with USCIS lottery registration in March, so offers for new graduates often come with an October 1 start date built in. Confirm your intended start date, current visa status, and any grace period constraints with the recruiter early to avoid gaps in work authorization.
