Frame your PM credentials around platform operations
Airbnb's Project Manager roles often sit at the intersection of product, operations, and host experience. Tailor your resume to show cross-functional program ownership in marketplace or platform environments, not just project delivery in a single-function setting.
Target teams with active international hiring patterns
Airbnb's Trust, Payments, and Global Operations teams have historically hired internationally for PM roles. Search for open roles under these business units specifically, since sponsorship willingness tends to follow where the company has already built precedent.
Clarify your visa category before the recruiter screen
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your OPT end date and whether you need STEM extension eligibility before your first recruiter call. Airbnb's recruiting team needs this to assess H-1B petition timelines against your authorization window.
Understand how LCA filing affects your start date
Airbnb must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting your H-1B or E-3 petition. LCA certification typically takes seven business days, so factor this into your negotiated start date if you're transitioning from another role.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Airbnb PM roles by visa type
Not every open Project Manager role at Airbnb is posted with sponsorship details visible. Use Migrate Mate to filter Airbnb's active PM listings by the visa types you need, so you're applying to roles where your immigration situation is already a fit.
Prepare documentation for specialty occupation classification
USCIS requires that H-1B petitions for Project Manager roles establish a direct link between a specific degree field and the position's duties. Gather syllabi, transcripts, or credential evaluations showing your degree aligns with the technical scope of Airbnb's PM work.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Airbnb sponsor H-1B visas for Project Managers?
Yes, Airbnb sponsors H-1B visas for Project Manager roles. The company has a documented history of petitioning for this function across multiple teams. Because H-1B sponsorship requires demonstrating specialty occupation status, your application will be stronger if your degree field directly aligns with the technical or operational scope of the specific PM role you're pursuing.
How do I apply for Project Manager jobs at Airbnb?
Apply through Airbnb's careers site or use Migrate Mate to browse verified Project Manager openings at Airbnb filtered by the visa type you need. Before applying, tailor your resume to reflect cross-functional program delivery in platform or marketplace environments. Airbnb's PM hiring process typically involves a recruiter screen, a case or written exercise, and multiple stakeholder interviews.
Which visa types does Airbnb commonly sponsor for Project Manager roles?
Airbnb sponsors H-1B, E-3 visa, TN visa, and F-1 OPT for Project Manager positions, and supports Green Card sponsorship through the EB-2 and EB-3 categories for longer-tenured employees. E-3 visa is available exclusively to Australian citizens. TN visa is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories. The right visa depends on your nationality, degree, and the specific role's requirements.
What qualifications does Airbnb expect for sponsored Project Manager roles?
Airbnb typically looks for a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business, engineering, computer science, or a related discipline, combined with hands-on experience managing cross-functional programs. For H-1B purposes, USCIS will scrutinize whether the degree field is directly tied to the role's duties, so a generalist background without a clear connection to the position's scope can complicate the petition.
How do I think about timing if I need Airbnb to sponsor an H-1B?
The H-1B cap lottery opens each March for an October 1 start date, so your offer and petition paperwork need to be in place before the registration window. If you're already in the U.S. on a different valid status, Airbnb can file a cap-exempt petition or change of status depending on your situation. Build at least three to four months of lead time between your offer and your intended start date.
