Align your credentials with HRSA standards
AltaMed operates as a federally qualified health center, so clinical roles often require credentials recognized under HRSA guidelines. Verify your foreign medical or nursing degree has been evaluated by a NACES-approved agency before applying.
Target bilingual clinical openings strategically
AltaMed's patient base is predominantly Spanish-speaking, so bilingual healthcare roles see stronger and more consistent hiring. Emphasizing Spanish-language fluency in your application meaningfully increases your chances of moving to the sponsorship conversation faster.
Search AltaMed's Healthcare openings on Migrate Mate
Browse AltaMed's verified Healthcare job listings on Migrate Mate to filter roles by visa type before applying. This saves time by surfacing only positions where sponsorship has been confirmed for your specific visa category.
Initiate PERM conversations early with HR
For EB-2 or EB-3 pathways, PERM recruitment must begin months before any filing. Ask AltaMed's HR team during the offer stage whether they have an immigration counsel already engaged, since healthcare PERM cases often require specialty wage determinations from DOL.
Confirm OPT or CPT role eligibility before accepting
F-1 OPT and CPT authorization must directly relate to your degree field. Before accepting an AltaMed offer, confirm with your Designated School Official that the specific healthcare role qualifies, since mismatched placements can jeopardize your F-1 status.
Prepare for USCIS specialty occupation scrutiny
H-1B petitions for some healthcare roles, particularly health educator or coordinator positions, face USCIS requests for evidence questioning whether a bachelor's degree is standard for entry. Gather employer documentation showing degree requirements are normal for your specific role at AltaMed.

Find Healthcare at AltaMed Health Services JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does AltaMed Health Services sponsor H-1B visas for Healthcares?
Yes, AltaMed Health Services has sponsored H-1B visas for Healthcare roles. Clinical and specialized health positions are the most likely candidates for H-1B sponsorship, particularly where a specific degree field is required for the role. You should confirm sponsorship availability directly with their HR or talent acquisition team during the interview process, as sponsorship decisions are made role by role.
How do I apply for Healthcare jobs at AltaMed Health Services?
You can browse AltaMed's open Healthcare positions on Migrate Mate, which filters listings by visa sponsorship type so you can identify relevant roles before applying. AltaMed posts positions across clinical, behavioral health, and community health functions. Tailor your application to reflect experience with underserved or federally qualified health center environments, as AltaMed's mission centers on serving low-income and predominantly Latino communities in Southern California.
Which visa types does AltaMed Health Services commonly use for Healthcare roles?
AltaMed has sponsored H-1B visas as well as employment-based Green Cards through the EB-2 and EB-3 preference categories for Healthcare professionals. F-1 OPT and CPT candidates in clinical or health administration fields may also be considered. TN visas are an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying healthcare occupations. J-1 sponsorship has also been used, typically for physicians in underserved area programs.
What qualifications does AltaMed Health Services expect for Healthcare roles?
Requirements vary by role, but clinical positions typically require U.S.-recognized licensure such as RN, NP, PA, or MD credentials, along with relevant state licensing in California. For roles like health educator or care coordinator, a degree in public health, social work, or a related field is standard. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is frequently listed as required rather than preferred, given AltaMed's patient population.
How do I time my application around visa sponsorship filing deadlines at AltaMed?
If you're targeting an H-1B, the annual cap registration window typically opens in March, with employment starting October 1 at the earliest. Starting your job search at AltaMed by late fall or early winter gives enough lead time for the employer to prepare a petition. For OPT candidates, your authorization period begins running immediately after graduation, so applying several months before OPT ends is critical to avoid a gap in work authorization.
