Your Impact:
Dedrone stands out as the global leader in airspace defense technology and counter-UAS solutions. Engineering at Dedrone is tasked with delivering innovative solutions and products to maintain our position on the cutting edge of innovation.
Sr. Engineering Program Managers at Dedrone have full program responsibility over next generation cUAS technology from conceptualization through production, driving programs that are highly visible to even the most senior executives. Our passionate leadership and cross-functional collaboration with product managers, mechanical and electrical engineers, industrial designers, supply chain, and manufacturing teams is vital to the success of the team and ensuring the safety of the general public for generations to come.
This role emphasizes program planning, risk management, and cross-functional execution across the full hardware development lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing complex electromechanical programs, navigating the challenges of hardware development in resource-constrained environments, and driving teams toward on-time delivery of durable, high-performance products built for diverse and demanding operational environments.
What You'll Do:
- Drive hardware programs from concept through mass production, owning the master schedule and ensuring milestones are met across all program phases (EVT, DVT, PVT).
- Lead cross-functional teams spanning mechanical, electrical, firmware, manufacturing, and supply chain to align on priorities and deliver cohesive program outcomes.
- Identify, track, and proactively mitigate program risks — from long-lead component constraints to supplier qualification gaps — before they become schedule or cost impacts.
- Own program budget management including NRE, tooling, and build costs, maintaining alignment between engineering execution and business commitments.
- Collaborate regularly with both domestic and international stakeholders, including ODM/CM partners, to ensure manufacturing readiness and on-time production ramp.
- Translate complex technical status and tradeoffs into clear, actionable communication for executive and cross-functional audiences.
- Work autonomously and collaboratively in an empowering and fast-paced environment, driving clarity in ambiguous situations.
- Hone your program leadership expertise in a dynamic learning environment focused on personal and professional development.
What You Bring:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field; MBA or MS in Engineering Management a plus.
- PMP certification a plus.
- Proven experience managing hardware product development programs through full product lifecycle, preferably in industries involving advanced electromechanical systems.
- Strong technical fluency across mechanical, electrical, and firmware disciplines sufficient to evaluate tradeoffs and engage meaningfully with engineering teams.
- Experience managing ODM/CM relationships and coordinating manufacturing readiness activities including yield, regulatory certification, and factory acceptance.
- Familiarity with hardware build phases (EVT/DVT/PVT), design freeze processes, and the tradeoffs inherent in transitioning from development to production.
- Proficiency with program management tools for scheduling, risk tracking, and cross-functional coordination.
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g., FCC, CE, UL, MIL-STD) and experience driving products through certification processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify critical path risks and drive resolution across competing organizational priorities.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively align cross-functional teams, surface tradeoffs to leadership, and present program status with clarity and confidence.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with high levels of ambiguity and evolving requirements.

Tailor your resume to Axon's stack
Axon's engineering roles span embedded systems, cloud infrastructure, and computer vision. Align your resume to the specific domain you're targeting rather than submitting a generalist profile. Engineers who can map prior experience to Axon's product lines move faster through screening.
Target roles in active hiring cycles
Axon posts Engineering openings across hardware, firmware, and software disciplines. Use Migrate Mate to filter Axon's open Engineering roles by visa sponsorship availability so you're applying to positions where H-1B support is already part of the hiring plan.
Document your specialty occupation credentials early
H-1B eligibility requires your role to qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards. Gather your transcripts, degree equivalency evaluations if your institution is outside the U.S., and any certifications relevant to the engineering discipline before you reach the offer stage.
Clarify sponsorship intent before the offer
Ask directly during the final interview round whether the specific role supports H-1B sponsorship. Engineering headcount at Axon spans multiple business units, and sponsorship decisions can vary by team budget and hiring manager, not just company-wide policy.
Understand the H-1B cap timeline before accepting
If you're not currently on H-1B status, Axon must file during the USCIS annual cap registration window, typically opening in March. An October 1 start date means you could wait six or more months from offer to first day of work. Factor that gap into your planning.
Verify your I-94 status before any job change
If you're moving to Axon from another employer, your authorized period of stay is tied to your current H-1B petition. Confirm your I-94 expiration date at the CBP portal before your last day so you don't inadvertently fall out of status during the transition.

Find Engineering at Axon JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Axon sponsor H-1B visas for Engineers?
Yes, Axon sponsors H-1B visas for Engineering roles. Sponsorship is most common for specialized positions in areas like embedded systems, cloud engineering, and computer vision where demand for qualified candidates is high. Not every open role will include sponsorship, so confirming with the recruiter early in the process is practical and saves time for both sides.
How do I apply for Engineering jobs at Axon?
Applications go through Axon's careers page, where you can filter by engineering discipline and location. Before applying, review the role's requirements closely to confirm your degree and experience align with the specialty occupation standard USCIS uses to evaluate H-1B eligibility. You can also browse Axon's open Engineering roles filtered by visa sponsorship on Migrate Mate to narrow your search efficiently.
Which visa types does Axon use for Engineering hires?
H-1B is the primary visa category Axon uses for Engineering roles. For engineers who are already authorized to work in the U.S. under OPT or STEM OPT, Axon can employ you in that status and then support the H-1B transition. L-1 transfers are also possible for engineers relocating internally from Axon's international offices, where applicable.
What qualifications does Axon expect for Engineering roles?
Most Engineering positions at Axon require at minimum a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as electrical engineering, computer science, or mechanical engineering. For roles involving computer vision or AI-driven features, advanced degrees or demonstrated research experience are common. The USCIS specialty occupation standard requires a direct relationship between your degree field and the job duties, so a well-matched background matters both for hiring and for visa approval.
How long does the H-1B sponsorship process take at Axon?
If you need a new H-1B cap-subject petition, the timeline runs from the USCIS registration window in March to an October 1 start date at the earliest. Premium processing, which USCIS offers for an additional fee, can reduce the adjudication period to roughly 15 business days once the petition is filed. If you're transferring an existing H-1B to Axon, you can start work once Axon files the petition, without waiting for approval.
