Frame your BD experience around public safety verticals
Axon's Business Development roles sit at the intersection of technology sales and mission-driven markets. Reframe retail or SaaS BD experience around loss prevention, enterprise procurement cycles, or government contract exposure to signal direct relevance to Axon's core customer base.
Confirm H-1B eligibility before your first interview
H-1B petitions for Business Development roles require a specialty occupation determination. Verify that your degree field aligns with the specific BD role you're targeting at Axon before you reach the offer stage, since mismatches can delay or complicate USCIS approval.
Search Axon's open BD roles on Migrate Mate
Axon posts Business Development positions across multiple verticals and regions. Use Migrate Mate to filter Axon's open roles by function and sponsorship history, so you're applying to positions where visa support has been extended before.
Raise sponsorship timing during the offer negotiation stage
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start date. If you receive an offer outside that window, clarify with Axon's HR team whether a cap-exempt filing or a status extension applies to bridge the gap.
Build a credentials packet specific to specialty occupation
Prepare a portfolio that connects your Business Development responsibilities to a specific academic discipline, such as business administration or marketing. Include a detailed job duties letter from any prior employer that mirrors the analytical and strategic scope of Axon's BD roles.
Use DOL LCA disclosure data to benchmark your offer
Before accepting an offer, cross-reference the prevailing wage level for your Business Development title and location against DOL's public LCA disclosure database. Axon must certify your wage meets the prevailing wage threshold, and knowing the tiers protects your negotiating position.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Axon sponsor H-1B visas for Business Developments?
Yes, Axon has sponsored H-1B visas for Business Development roles. Sponsorship is not automatic for every position, so it's worth confirming with the recruiter early in the process. Roles that meet the USCIS specialty occupation standard, typically requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field, are the strongest candidates for H-1B support.
How do I apply for Business Development jobs at Axon?
Applications go through Axon's careers portal, where BD roles are listed by region and product vertical. Tailoring your resume to reflect enterprise sales cycles, partner development, or public sector market expansion will strengthen your application. You can also browse Axon's current Business Development openings filtered by visa sponsorship availability on Migrate Mate before applying directly.
Which visa types are commonly used for Business Development roles at Axon?
H-1B is the primary visa category Axon uses for Business Development professionals requiring sponsorship. If you're already on an F-1 with OPT or STEM OPT, you can begin work immediately and transition to H-1B sponsorship during the annual cap registration period. L-1 visa transfers may apply if you're relocating from an Axon entity abroad with relevant BD experience.
What qualifications does Axon expect for Business Development roles?
Axon's BD roles typically require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, combined with demonstrated experience in enterprise sales, strategic partnerships, or market expansion. For H-1B purposes, the degree must align specifically with the job duties. Experience in SaaS, public safety technology, or retail loss prevention is frequently cited in Axon's BD job descriptions.
How do I time my H-1B sponsorship process when targeting Axon?
If you're cap-subject, USCIS opens H-1B registration in March each year for an October 1 start date. Align your Axon offer timeline to allow at least four to six weeks before the April filing deadline for your employer to prepare the petition. If you miss the cap window, discuss bridging options with Axon HR, such as an OPT extension or a change of status from a cap-exempt position.
