Frequently Asked Questions
Does Detroit Cristo Rey High School sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Detroit Cristo Rey High School has sponsored H-1B visas for qualified candidates. Sponsorship at the school is focused on instructional and educational roles that meet the specialty occupation standard. If you hold a relevant bachelor's degree or higher in a field tied to your teaching subject, you're well-positioned to be considered for H-1B support.
Which visa types does Detroit Cristo Rey High School support?
Detroit Cristo Rey High School has a track record of supporting H-1B and TN visa holders, and is open to candidates on F-1 OPT. The TN pathway is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional roles. F-1 OPT candidates should confirm sponsorship timelines with HR early, particularly if STEM OPT extension is a consideration.
Which roles at Detroit Cristo Rey High School are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at Detroit Cristo Rey High School is most common for teaching positions, particularly in subjects that require specific degree-level expertise such as mathematics, science, and English. Specialized instructional roles are the strongest fit for H-1B classification. Administrative or support roles are less likely to qualify unless they require a specialized degree field.
What is the hiring timeline at Detroit Cristo Rey High School and how does it affect my visa sponsorship?

For H-1B sponsorship, timing matters significantly since cap-subject petitions must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start. Engaging with the school early in the calendar year gives both parties enough time to prepare a petition.
