Align your degree to a specialty occupation
Thornton Tomasetti's E-3 roles require a direct nexus between your degree field and the position. A civil engineering degree supporting a structural role is clean. A general science degree for a specialized consulting role will face scrutiny, so map your credentials to the job description before applying.
Target technical practice groups directly
Thornton Tomasetti hires through discipline-specific teams like structural engineering, facade engineering, and sustainability consulting. Applying through these practice areas rather than a general pool signals fit and increases the chance your application reaches a hiring manager who understands E-3 sponsorship.
Research prevailing wages before your offer stage
Before salary negotiations, look up the prevailing wage for your specific role and location using the OFLC Wage Search. Thornton Tomasetti's LCA must certify a wage meeting DOL requirements, so knowing the floor helps you assess whether an offer is viable for E-3 filing.
Verify your occupation qualifies using O*NET
Consulting and professional services roles vary widely in how USCIS evaluates specialty occupation status. Cross-reference your job title against O*NET to confirm the position typically requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field, which strengthens the employer's LCA and your visa application.
Find Thornton Tomasetti's E-3 filing history on Migrate Mate
Search Thornton Tomasetti on Migrate Mate to review its DOL Labor Condition Application filings by role and location. This shows which job titles the firm has sponsored before, helping you target roles with a proven sponsorship track record rather than guessing which positions qualify.
Confirm the LCA is certified before your consulate appointment
The E-3 application process moves quickly once you have a job offer, but your consulate interview cannot proceed without a certified LCA. Follow up with Thornton Tomasetti's HR or immigration team to confirm DOL certification is complete before you book your appointment at the U.S. consulate in Australia.
Thornton Tomasetti E-3 Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Thornton Tomasetti sponsor E-3 visas?
Yes, Thornton Tomasetti sponsors E-3 visas for Australian professionals in qualifying specialty occupations. The firm has an active immigration program and has filed Labor Condition Applications with the DOL for technical and engineering roles. E-3 sponsorship is typically handled through HR and the firm's immigration counsel once a job offer is extended.
Which roles at Thornton Tomasetti typically receive E-3 sponsorship?
E-3 sponsorship at Thornton Tomasetti is most common in technical disciplines including structural engineering, facade consulting, sustainability, and advanced technology practice areas. These roles align clearly with specialty occupation requirements because they require a bachelor's degree in a directly related field, which satisfies USCIS criteria for E-3 eligibility.
How do I start the E-3 application process after receiving an offer from Thornton Tomasetti?
After accepting an offer, Thornton Tomasetti's HR team initiates the Labor Condition Application with the DOL. Once the LCA is certified, you complete the DS-160 online, pay the MRV fee, and schedule your visa interview at a U.S. consulate in Australia. The firm's immigration team will provide the documents you need to bring to the interview.
How long does E-3 sponsorship take at Thornton Tomasetti?
The DOL typically certifies the LCA within seven business days. From there, consulate appointment availability in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth determines the overall timeline, which can range from a few weeks to a couple of months depending on demand. Starting the process immediately after your offer is accepted gives you the most scheduling flexibility.
How do I find open E-3 roles at Thornton Tomasetti?
Search Thornton Tomasetti on Migrate Mate to view current job openings filtered for E-3 sponsorship eligibility, alongside the firm's LCA filing history by role and location. This lets you identify which positions have a documented sponsorship track record before you invest time in the application process.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 sponsorship at Thornton Tomasetti?
E-3 employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, determined when they file a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, ensuring Australian hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
