Align Your Credentials with FSU's Requirements
FSU's health services typically expect a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) credential. Get your certification verified and ready before applying, since credentialing delays can stall an H-1B filing timeline significantly.
Target FSU's Campus Health Services Directly
FSU posts Medical Assistant openings through its central HR portal under Student Health Services or University Health Services. Filtering by department rather than job title gets you to the right hiring unit faster and surfaces roles before they close.
Confirm Sponsorship Willingness During the Interview
Ask HR directly whether the specific Medical Assistant position is approved for H-1B or PERM sponsorship. University roles vary by funding source and department budget, and not every posting within FSU carries the same sponsorship commitment.
Browse Open Roles Before Outreach
Search Migrate Mate to find current Medical Assistant openings at FSU with confirmed visa sponsorship. Reviewing active listings first tells you which positions are hiring now and which visa categories the department is actively supporting.

Find Medical Assistant at Florida State University JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Florida State University sponsor H-1B visas for Medical Assistants?
Yes, Florida State University sponsors H-1B visas for Medical Assistant roles where the position qualifies as a specialty occupation. Because Medical Assistant positions can vary in scope, your specific role's duties and the degree requirement attached to it will determine whether FSU's HR office can support an H-1B petition. Confirm this with the hiring department before accepting an offer.
How do I apply for Medical Assistant jobs at Florida State University?
Applications go through FSU's official HR jobs portal at jobs.fsu.edu. Search for Medical Assistant under the Health Services or Student Affairs categories. You can also use Migrate Mate to browse current FSU Medical Assistant openings filtered by visa sponsorship type, which saves time if you need to confirm sponsorship availability before investing in the full application process.
Which visa types does Florida State University commonly use for Medical Assistant roles?
FSU supports several visa categories for Medical Assistant positions depending on your background. F-1 OPT and CPT are common entry points for recent graduates. H-1B sponsorship is available for roles that meet specialty occupation criteria. TN visas apply to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying clinical roles. J-1 exchange visitor status is also used in some university health contexts.
What qualifications does Florida State University expect for Medical Assistant positions?
FSU's Medical Assistant postings generally require a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) credential from an accredited program, along with clinical experience in areas like phlebotomy, vital signs, and patient intake. Some positions under Student Health Services also prefer experience working with a young adult or college-age population given the campus setting.
How do I manage my visa timeline when accepting a Medical Assistant offer at FSU?
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your OPT expiration date against FSU's expected H-1B petition timeline. USCIS requires H-1B petitions to be filed in April for an October 1 start date. If your OPT expires before October 1 and you're selected in the lottery, you'll need a cap-gap extension to remain work-authorized. Coordinate closely with FSU's international HR team to avoid gaps.
