Align your credentials to U.S. licensure expectations
Garver's Construction roles frequently require or expect progress toward a Professional Engineer license. Before applying, verify that your foreign degree is credentialed through NCEES so hiring managers can assess your licensure pathway without guesswork on their end.
Target roles tied to federally funded infrastructure
Garver's project portfolio skews heavily toward DOT and federally funded work. Positions on those projects tend to have more structured hiring timelines, which gives sponsors clearer runway to file an H-1B petition or begin PERM labor certification without last-minute compression.
Surface your OPT or CPT eligibility early in conversations
If you're on F-1 status, telling Garver's recruiting team upfront that you're OPT-eligible removes the immediate H-1B timeline pressure. Construction project schedules are planned months ahead, so recruiters will factor your work authorization window into offer timing.
Understand how PERM timing affects your offer negotiation
For EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship, DOL's PERM process runs several months before USCIS ever sees your case. If Garver is open to permanent residency sponsorship, ask during the offer stage so recruitment of record and prevailing wage determination can start without delaying your onboarding.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Garver's open Construction roles by visa type
Garver posts Construction openings across multiple disciplines and regions. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Garver positions that align with your visa category, so you're applying to roles where sponsorship has already been confirmed rather than asking cold during screening.
Prepare a project-based portfolio before your technical interview
Garver's hiring process for Construction roles tests applied engineering judgment, not just credentials. Organizing two or three examples from past infrastructure or facility projects that show scope, your specific contribution, and measurable outcomes will give interviewers the concrete evidence they need to build an internal case for sponsorship.

Find Construction at Garver JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Garver sponsor H-1B visas for Construction roles?
Yes, Garver sponsors H-1B visas for Construction positions. The firm operates across infrastructure and transportation sectors that regularly require specialized engineering talent, and their HR team is experienced with the H-1B petition process through USCIS. If you're already in H-1B status, Garver can also file an H-1B transfer, letting you start once USCIS receives the petition.
How do I apply for Construction jobs at Garver?
You can browse and apply to Garver's Construction openings directly through their careers page or use Migrate Mate to filter roles by visa sponsorship eligibility before applying. When applying, tailor your resume to the specific project type, such as transportation, water, or aviation, since Garver's Construction group is organized by market sector. Mention your visa status in your cover letter so recruiters can flag the role for sponsorship review from the start.
Which visa types does Garver commonly use for Construction hires?
Garver sponsors several visa categories for Construction roles, including H-1B for specialty occupation engineers, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering disciplines, and F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates. For candidates pursuing permanent residency, Garver has sponsored EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards through the PERM labor certification process with the Department of Labor.
What qualifications does Garver expect for sponsored Construction positions?
Most Construction roles at Garver require a bachelor's degree in civil, structural, or a closely related engineering field, and many positions expect candidates to be on a path toward Professional Engineer licensure. Relevant project experience in infrastructure, transportation, or facilities construction strengthens your application. USCIS also requires that the role qualify as a specialty occupation under H-1B rules, which is standard for degreed engineering positions.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take when joining Garver in a Construction role?
Timeline depends on your visa category. An H-1B transfer from another employer can allow you to start once USCIS receives Garver's petition, typically within a few weeks. A new H-1B cap subject filing requires waiting for the annual lottery and an October 1 start date. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship runs longer, often 12 to 24 months for the DOL and USCIS stages combined, so starting that conversation at the offer stage is practical.
