Align your credentials to U.S. engineering standards
GHD's program management roles typically require a degree in engineering or a related field. If your credentials are from outside the U.S., get a formal equivalency evaluation before applying so your application clears GHD's internal screening without delays.
Target GHD's infrastructure and advisory practice areas
GHD organizes Engineering Program Manager openings around sectors like water, transportation, and environment. Applying to roles tied to a specific practice area improves your fit score and signals you understand how consulting firms structure delivery teams.
Confirm visa type eligibility before your offer stage
GHD sponsors multiple visa categories including F-1 OPT, TN, and employment-based Green Cards. Knowing which category applies to your situation before the offer conversation means you can respond clearly when GHD's HR team asks about your work authorization timeline.
Plan your OPT start date around GHD's project cycles
Consulting firms like GHD often onboard in cohorts tied to project demand. If you're on F-1 OPT, time your application so your authorized start date aligns with GHD's intake windows, reducing the risk of gaps between your OPT period and an actual start date.
Understand the PERM timeline for Green Card sponsorship
EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship at a consulting firm like GHD requires a completed PERM labor certification through DOL before USCIS petition filing. That process can take a year or more, so raise the conversation during offer negotiation, not after you've already started.
Use Migrate Mate to find open roles by visa type
Searching GHD's full engineering program management openings filtered by sponsorship eligibility is faster with a dedicated tool. Migrate Mate lets you browse GHD's current postings specifically by visa category so you only apply to roles where sponsorship is confirmed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does GHD sponsor H-1B visas for Engineering Program Managers?
GHD's sponsorship history for Engineering Program Managers is concentrated in employment-based Green Card categories and F-1 OPT rather than H-1B visa. That doesn't mean H-1B is off the table, but if you're relying on H-1B sponsorship specifically, confirm the visa types GHD will support for your target role before investing heavily in the application process.
How do I apply for Engineering Program Manager jobs at GHD?
Applications go through GHD's careers portal, where roles are listed by region and practice area. Tailor your resume to reflect program delivery experience in infrastructure or advisory consulting, and address your work authorization status clearly in your application. Migrate Mate aggregates GHD's open Engineering Program Manager postings by visa type so you can identify the right roles before applying directly.
Which visa types does GHD commonly use for Engineering Program Manager roles?
GHD has supported Engineering Program Managers through F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals, J-1 visa exchange visitors, and employment-based Green Cards at the EB-2 and EB-3 levels. The right category depends on your nationality, degree, and where you are in your career. TN visa is often the fastest path for Canadian or Mexican engineers with qualifying degrees.
What qualifications does GHD expect for Engineering Program Manager positions?
GHD typically looks for a bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related discipline, along with experience managing multi-stakeholder projects in sectors like water, transportation, or environment. PMP certification strengthens your profile. For sponsored roles, your degree field needs to align directly with the job duties to satisfy specialty occupation requirements under most work visa categories.
How do I navigate the sponsorship timeline when joining GHD as an international engineer?
The timeline depends on your visa category. F-1 OPT authorization can begin close to your start date, while TN status can be obtained at the border for qualifying nationals. EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through PERM involves a DOL labor certification phase that adds significant lead time. Raise sponsorship expectations during the offer stage so GHD's legal team can begin the process without delays.
