Match your credentials to EB pathway requirements
Mohawk Valley Health System typically files Green Cards under EB-2 or EB-3, depending on the role's education requirements. EB-2 requires an advanced degree or exceptional ability; EB-3 covers most registered nursing and allied health positions. Knowing which category applies shapes how you present your qualifications during hiring.
Get your credentials evaluated before applying
International healthcare degrees must be evaluated by a recognized credential assessment organization before MVHS can begin PERM or petition filing. For nursing roles, CGFNS certification and NCLEX passage are prerequisites MVHS will verify before sponsorship discussions begin. Starting this process early prevents delays after an offer is extended.
Research MVHS roles using DOL disclosure data
DOL PERM and LCA disclosure files show which job titles Mohawk Valley Health System has historically sponsored. Cross-reference those titles with current MVHS job postings to identify roles where Green Card sponsorship is an established pattern, not a one-off exception. This narrows your application targeting significantly.
Understand the PERM labor certification timeline
PERM labor certification, required for most EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards, can take six to eighteen months before USCIS even receives the petition. At MVHS, this process starts after your offer is finalized. Factor this into any plans around OPT expiration, H-1B visa status, or other authorization you're maintaining concurrently.
Use Migrate Mate to find MVHS Green Card job openings
Search Migrate Mate to surface active Mohawk Valley Health System roles filtered by Green Card sponsorship history. Migrate Mate pulls DOL Labor Condition Application data so you can see which MVHS departments have sponsored international workers, helping you apply to teams where sponsorship is a real, documented practice.
Prepare for the prevailing wage requirement before negotiating
MVHS must pay you the DOL prevailing wage for your role and location throughout the Green Card process. Before salary discussions, use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the prevailing wage for your specific job title in the Utica, New York area. Arriving informed prevents offer-stage surprises that can delay or derail sponsorship.
Mohawk Valley Health System Green Card Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Mohawk Valley Health System sponsor Green Card visas?
Yes, Mohawk Valley Health System sponsors Green Card visas for qualifying healthcare and clinical roles. Sponsorship is most common for positions requiring specialized credentials, such as registered nurses and allied health professionals. Sponsorship is employer-initiated, so your path begins with securing a qualifying job offer from MVHS in an eligible role.
Which roles and departments at Mohawk Valley Health System typically receive Green Card sponsorship?
Green Card sponsorship at MVHS is most concentrated in direct patient care roles, particularly registered nursing, specialized clinical positions, and allied health occupations where domestic recruitment challenges are well-documented. Administrative and support roles are less commonly sponsored. Reviewing MVHS job postings that explicitly reference visa sponsorship or checking DOL PERM disclosure data helps identify the departments with active sponsorship history.
How do I start the Green Card process at Mohawk Valley Health System?
The process begins when MVHS extends a formal job offer and agrees to sponsor your permanent residency. MVHS then initiates PERM labor certification with DOL, which tests the labor market before the EB-2 or EB-3 petition is filed with USCIS. Your role is to have all credential evaluations, licensure, and supporting documentation ready before this process starts.
How long does the Green Card process take at Mohawk Valley Health System?
Total timelines depend on your visa category and country of birth. PERM labor certification alone can take six to eighteen months, followed by USCIS petition adjudication. Applicants born in countries with high EB demand, particularly India and China, may face significantly longer waits due to visa backlogs. Maintaining valid work authorization throughout this period is essential.
How do I find open Green Card jobs at Mohawk Valley Health System?
Migrate Mate lists Mohawk Valley Health System roles filtered by sponsorship history, making it easier to identify positions where Green Card support is a documented pattern rather than a case-by-case decision. You can also monitor the MVHS careers page directly and look for postings that reference visa sponsorship or international candidate eligibility in the job description.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card sponsorship at Mohawk Valley Health System?
Employers sponsoring a Green Card through the PERM labor certification process must pay at least the prevailing wage for the role. The Department of Labor determines this rate based on the specific job title, location, and experience level. The prevailing wage is locked in during the PERM filing and applies through the entire Green Card process. You can look up current rates using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
