Target faculty and research postings first
Kennesaw State University's H-1B sponsorship is concentrated in academic departments. Tenure-track faculty, visiting lecturer, and research scientist roles are the most common paths to H-1B sponsorship at KSU, so prioritize those job categories in your search.
Understand KSU's HR-driven sponsorship process
As a public university, Kennesaw State routes H-1B petitions through its central HR and international services office. Contacting the Office of Global Services early helps clarify department-level sponsorship policies before you get deep into the hiring process.
Apply during academic hiring cycles
University hiring follows a predictable rhythm. Faculty searches at Kennesaw State typically open in fall for positions starting the following academic year, so aligning your applications with that cycle improves your chances of landing a sponsored role.
Emphasize your specialty occupation credentials
H-1B sponsorship at universities requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation. Highlighting your advanced degree and how it directly applies to the position strengthens the case KSU's HR team will need to make in your H-1B petition.
Use Migrate Mate to verify sponsorship history
Not every KSU posting leads to H-1B sponsorship. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history, helping you focus on departments and roles at Kennesaw State that have a track record of filing H-1B petitions.
Build relationships within your target department
At large universities like Kennesaw State, department chairs often influence whether a hire is offered H-1B sponsorship. Connecting with faculty in your field before applying signals genuine interest and can accelerate internal advocacy for your sponsorship.
Kennesaw State University H-1B Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Kennesaw State University sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Kennesaw State University sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying positions. Sponsorship is most consistent for faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and certain specialized administrative roles. As a large public university in Georgia, KSU has an established process for H-1B petitions managed through its Office of Global Services and central HR team.
Which roles and departments at Kennesaw State University are most likely to offer H-1B sponsorship?
Academic and research departments are the strongest source of H-1B sponsorship at KSU. Tenure-track and visiting faculty positions across STEM, business, health sciences, and the humanities are regularly sponsored. Specialized staff roles requiring a degree in a specific field, such as research analysts or IT architects, can also qualify, though sponsorship is less consistent outside academic hiring.
How do I apply for a job at Kennesaw State University that includes H-1B sponsorship?
Apply through KSU's official careers portal and look for language in the posting indicating visa sponsorship is available. After receiving an offer, the sponsoring department works with the Office of Global Services to initiate the H-1B petition. You can use Migrate Mate to identify which KSU roles have a verified sponsorship history before you invest time in the application.
How long does the H-1B sponsorship process take at Kennesaw State University?
The timeline depends on USCIS processing and whether premium processing is used. Standard processing can take several months after the H-1B cap filing window in April, with approved petitions taking effect October 1. KSU's internal preparation typically begins well before the April registration deadline, so offers for cap-subject positions are generally extended by late winter or early spring.
What can I do to strengthen my H-1B sponsorship application at Kennesaw State University?
Prepare a strong academic or professional portfolio that clearly connects your degree to the role's requirements. Engage directly with the hiring department, since faculty advocates carry weight in university hiring decisions. Make sure your credentials are evaluated if obtained outside the U.S., as KSU's international services team will need to confirm degree equivalency as part of the H-1B petition process.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at Kennesaw State University?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
