How to Get Visa Sponsorship in Widener University H-1B Visa Sponsorship Jobs USA
Target faculty and research openings first
Widener University's H-1B sponsorship is concentrated in academic and research roles. Faculty positions in engineering, business, law, and nursing are the most likely to come with sponsorship, so prioritize those departments in your search.
Confirm sponsorship willingness before applying
Not every Widener job posting will explicitly mention H-1B sponsorship. Contact the hiring department or HR directly to confirm visa support before investing time in the application, especially for administrative or staff roles.
Use Migrate Mate to verify sponsorship history
Migrate Mate surfaces verified H-1B sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and identify open roles at Widener University without wasting time on employers who don't support international candidates.
Align your degree with the role's specialty occupation requirement
H-1B approval requires that the role qualifies as a specialty occupation. For Widener positions, ensure your degree field directly matches the job's requirements, particularly for clinical, legal, or engineering departments where USCIS scrutinizes degree alignment closely.
Engage with Widener's HR well before the April lottery deadline
H-1B petitions for new employment must be submitted by early April for an October start. Start conversations with Widener's human resources team several months in advance to allow enough time for LCA filing and petition preparation.
Highlight specialized expertise that is hard to fill domestically
Universities are more likely to sponsor H-1B visas when a candidate has a rare specialization. Emphasize research expertise, language skills, or technical qualifications that make your profile genuinely difficult to replicate with a domestic hire.

Does Widener University sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Widener University sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying positions. Sponsorship is most common in faculty, research, and certain specialized professional staff roles. It is a selective sponsor, so candidates should confirm visa support directly with the hiring department before applying, as not every open role will be eligible.
Which roles and departments at Widener University are most likely to offer H-1B sponsorship?
H-1B sponsorship at Widener University is most common in academic departments, particularly engineering, business, nursing, and law. Research-intensive roles and positions requiring a specialized advanced degree are the strongest candidates for sponsorship. General administrative or operational staff positions are less likely to include H-1B support.
How do I apply for a job at Widener University that includes H-1B sponsorship?
Apply through Widener University's official careers portal and confirm visa sponsorship availability with HR before or during the interview process. Once an offer is extended, Widener's human resources team typically works with an immigration attorney to file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor and then the H-1B petition with USCIS.
How long does the H-1B sponsorship process take at Widener University?
The full process typically takes several months. After an offer is made, the LCA certification alone takes one to three weeks, followed by USCIS petition processing, which can range from a few weeks with premium processing to several months under standard processing. New H-1B employment generally starts October 1, so timeline planning is critical.
How do I find open H-1B jobs at Widener University?
Check Widener University's official careers page for current openings and filter for roles in departments known to sponsor visas. Migrate Mate is also a useful resource, as it identifies verified H-1B sponsors and surfaces open positions at universities like Widener, helping you focus your search on employers with a real sponsorship track record.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B jobs at Widener University?
H-1B employers must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is determined when they file the Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. The rate is based on the role, location, and experience level, and ensures international hires are paid comparably to U.S. workers in the same position. You can look up prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the DOL's OFLC Wage Search tool.
